A little idea I had while looking up cards on Gatherer.

Deck discussion for Goblin Token Fun

*like*
I would use, at least in the sideboard, "Bloodmark Mentor". This would increase the chance of survival of your tokens.

That's a very good sideboard option. Was kind of thinking of Weapon Surge to do the same thing. Both have pros and cons...

I would try a split between "Weapon Surge" and "Bloodmark Mentor" (or "Legion Loyalist" if you want a more aggressive but cheaper version). Some testgames should show rather quickly what works and what doesn't.

How do you feel about Dragonrage?

Seems ok, but its a strong card and a good choice for this deck to me

I think wooded foothills would be a better choice if you got the budget. Goblin grenade might be better than lightning bolt also.

I would say go for it if you are willing

An overloaded Weapon Surge gets a similar affect to Dragonrage.
If I had the rare fetches, I'd use them.
I'm kind of in two minds about Grenade. 5 damage at the cost of sacrificing a token vs turn 1 kill an opponent's 1 drop...

why no goblin grenade and a copy of krenko?

No real space left for Grenade. Krenko is cool, but I doubt I could get my hands on any

krenko is in the m2014 red deck, and apart from that not very expensive, and he's explosive with purphoros

The problem is I currently have no money to spend on ANY cards :(
That and I'm concentrating on other decks at the moment, like my token elf deck.

Well maybe you could trade for it. Another good addition would be hellrider as a one of maybe?

Now that you have access to goblin piledriver in modern, do you plan to update this deck? I know he won't make this deck budget anymore, but he is soooo good.

Despite how good Piledriver is, or its price tag, being a creature that doesn't affect or give tokens kind of goes against the idea I'm going for here. Plus it's a creature spell, so I can't get a token from Goblinslide.

Wait wait wait... Why not just have 4 more mountains instead of 4 evolving wilds? I mean, wouldn't it better?

Each fetch land reduces the number of lands in the deck, thus increasing the chance to draw a nonland.

But a fetch land is a land... I don't get ya

ah... nvm i get it

but evolving wilds comes in play tapped, and this is aggro so its not value, especially since it barely even reduces ur chances to draw a land
- may god bless ur'e souls

You'd be a bit desperate if mana-flooded that you would not mind if it came tapped.

Obviously, one of the rare fetch lands would be best, but I don't have money to spare for them. I have been testing the Panorama (Grixis Panorama; Jund Panorama; Naya Panorama) in my mono red Dragonstorm deck with more success than Evolving Wilds / Terramorphic Expanse, but that deck is a little slower than this one, so I don't know how the Panorama will work here.

I was surprised with the absence of Rabblemaster. I mean, it is modern and I could see why you may have not included it, but it's goblin assault on a stick and can rack up serious damage with the other goblins. Opponents will prioritize blocking the Rabblemaster and leave themselves open with all the other goblins.

BTW, nice deck, people will have loads of fun with the proxy.

The problem is, by the time I realised how good Rabblemaster is, his price tag had skyrocketed :'( I'm not spending over ZAR 100 per Rabblemaster for a fun deck.
