its actually not as unreliable as u would think. i can keep the board clean until i get him which having 4 of them in the deck is almost ever game i can drop at least one. doing sample hands i havent come across a game where he doesnt drop. u also have to look at with the tutors and solemn i have was to shuffle my deck increasing my odds.

thx for the comment though.

You do realize that demonic tutor is banned in just about every format except EDH and is restricted even in Vintage?

0

and u do realize the deck is built for fun dont u? its more of a casual style deck that with some mods could probly be for any format except standard to extended.

then why not run 60 chancellor of the dross ?

1
Posted 19 September 2012 at 12:16

Because that breaks the most fundamental rule of the game. And even "casual decks" shouldn't do that. There is a difference between running 4 of a restricted or banned card, and running 60 chancellor of the dross., or any non basic land card other than relentless rats. Because that isn't even fun at that point it. It is just stupid.

Why is this even a comment? I dont see anybody complain when somebody makes an Elf deck thats disgustingly overpowered....Whats the big deal with this one? Its a Deck for Fun....Not a hard concept! It breaks no rules, and is not intended to play in any Tournament.....

Hey UberRando on the topic of banned cards. Emrakul is banned in every format. There isn't a single place where he is legal. So I'm sure demonking new this deck was not legal in any format when he made it. Just Saying.

As long as the group isnt overpowering themselves with lots of Mox and Power 9s....There is absolutely no reason to even look at the banned list. Sitting around a table playing is about as far from a Tournament you can possibly get....So why not drop a few jaws with a 4 drop Emrakul?

Emrakul is retarded anyway. In order of power there are things like Grizzly Bears (Low), Goblin Chieftan (mid), Jace, Mind Sculpter (Overpowered, but still playable), The power 9 (There is good reason why they are banned) then Emrakul (So far over the top its just pathetic). He should have never been made in the first place...But since he was, Use the bastard.

Outside a Tournament, Its all good. Just remember though...Its all fun and games till someone gets their Ur-Golem's eye put out! ;)

emrakul really isnt that overpowered. he costs 15 mana.. so in order to play him competitively you have to cheat him in. and even then its still not overpowered. if it where, show and tell would be the only legacy deck that mattered. buut, its not. theres plenty of ways to deal with emrakul, from diabolic edict, to karakas, to just outright countering the combo piece thats cheating him into play

um.. a competitive eldrazi deck can legally play him by about turn 4-6 or so... so I have to disagree with that. as for not overpowered... O.o he does MORE than any other single creature in the game, not to mention he basically has haste and can't be blocked.

If you don't think Emrakul is disturbingly overpowered, Then im afraid you may not have the right idea about the game in general. Yes there are ways to deal with him, but not as many as you make it seem. You would pretty much have to design a deck to keep him out of play....and if you made one slip up, Hes in and simply with Haste, there goes 12 of your permanents. Totally ignoring any damage he can do, Cheating him in in the 4th turn would very easily remove all chance of winning against him. Its not any one of his abilities, Its how they all interact.

Kazzong = 100% Right

do any of you even play legacy? or have you played a show and tell or sneak show deck? because those decks are way better than this deck and are still beatable. the only way this deck is getting emrakul into play is with quicksilver amulet. with only 3 quicksilver amulet, 4 emrakul and no cantrips or tutors the chances of you actually being able to resolve a quiksilver amulet and play emrakul are slim.
in legacy, most decks play some sort of dispruption, trying to get this combo past force of will, daze, spell pierce. stifle, thoughtsieze, duress is probably not happening without any disruption or counter magic of your own.

in a casual setting im sure this deck is fine, but in competive legacy you would get destroyed. emrakul isnt as bad as you think, or else it would be banned. almost every deck has things they can do to stop this, maindeck, and if its not already maindeck theyre running things like diabolic edict, innocent blood, guilded drake, sower of temptation, jace the mind sculptor, oblivion ring, runed halo, ensnaring bridge, humility, in theyre sideboards

Pretty good stuff here. Btw the joke that guy above me made was funny. Golem's eye was pretty cool in Mirodin, but nowhere near as nasty as Krak Clan Ironworks. Emrakul is so hard to get rid of. Thats what makes him a solid win method. I was up against my friend the other day and he double-Darksteel Collosused me twice in one turn. I took care of the first one, but the second one punched my face in. Anyway, nice deck. Check out my GB Dumpster Deck:

what dies to cancel?

0
Posted 20 September 2012 at 07:02

The whole idea is to get Emrakul out as quick as possible.....And since he can't be countered, What will Cancel do at all? You could stop as much as 4 spells with it, but he has enough of everything in the deck that just stopping 4 wont stop Emrakul. Sure, it slows to a crawl when playing a deck full of Counter spells....But that wont kill the deck, It just makes it take more turns.

lol ok too much to respond at one time since i have to wait a min after i post here.

to sum it all up, personally emrakul is way overpowered and so easy to abuse in certain decks such as my design here. my brother and i have a mono green version i might post if anyone wants to see it that can be just as fast if not faster. yes a counter deck would slow it but deff not stop this beast. i tryed to take that into account since i hate counter decks <_<

thx for all the comments and likes guys n gals, and if anyone is interested in seein the mono green version, comment here and ill try to post it asap.

guys, i have the answer in the deck. lightning greaves i aint gotta worry till u oring them then i might have to worry.

in any case, i have been debating on adding in a few exsanguinates in here for a back up win.

0

As I was taught you go through DEBT when dealing with protection.

Damage - All damage from the protected color(s) is prevented.
Equip - The protected card cannot be equipped with the protected color(s).
Block - The protected card cannot be blocked by the protected color(s).
Target - The protected card cannot be targeted by card(s) with the protected color(s).

Progenitus - Protection from everything (You can mill him, but that's about it).
Etched Champion - When his ability is active, he's a prime example of this acronym.

Why Emerakul can be targeted by creature abilities is a permanent is no longer just a spell after it resolves. It's whatever types it is from the time of resolving forward. I.E. Gideon's Lawkeeper isn't a "spell" after it's already on the field.

Thought I'd elaborate a bit on this; a lot of people seem to wonder about protection in general.

0
Posted 22 September 2012 at 08:42

actually the last time i looked up old progenitus, u can still mass board wipe him i.e damnation and it would get him off the field. thats kinda y i traded my copy.

0
Posted 22 September 2012 at 16:12

tbh i think i have to disagree with lawkeeper being able to tap him. the only thing that can get rid of emraklul would be a mass board wipe such as Wrath or day or damnnation. unless the rules have changed since he came out thats the way its always worked at tourneys ive been at.

Well... the deck isn't legal in any format, so I assume U made it for casual :)

Once I've played a deck at extended, that was red & I used "Extraplanar Lens", Koth, that golem for 6, that gives U all 5 colors of mana, if U sacrifice it, & stuff... ...with Kozilek, Ulmog, "Comet Storm" & such...

actually its not a bad deck. will it kill in every game no, will it be legal for legacy or somethin no but i dont play those formats soooooooooooo i dont care. no this deck isnt a joke, its a fun concept i thought i would try in my group. just cause its not a $500 and up kinda deck that kills in only a few turns doesnt mean its a bad deck.

1
Posted 22 September 2012 at 05:46

Ok since nobody has been able to tell me WHY its a Bad Deck....Then lets move on to the next question. Why would this be a Joke? It works...Thats all that a deck needs to do. I could toss 40 green cards into a deck, give it 20 lands, and it would WORK. 99% chance that it will Suck, but a 100% chance that it will also Work.

Why is this deck any kind of Joke? If i dont get any answers, Im just going to assume you people are all a bunch of moronic trolls, hit myself for falling for it, and move on.

loses to any sort of disruption. discard or counterspells are going to ruin his day when hes only running 3 quicksilver amulets and nothing to ensure he can resolve one.
the only thing he has to actually protect himself are some chump myrs and 2 sweepers/ putting all your hopes into cheating in emrakul with only 3 quicksilver amulets. and just 2 demonic tutors and 3 sign in blood to try and find them is not a great idea.
the whole myr package in general is pretty useless, he should be running more control and disruption to keep himself alive and ensure he can combo off.
things like duress, inquisition and thoughtsieze are necessary because this combo probably isnt happening all in one turn because 8 mana is alot.. so that turn quiksilver sits out before you can activate it you need to insure its not going to get removed or countered before it was even played.

guilded lotus, solemn simulacrum, and the myr package all seem like weak choices

you really should be playing duress or thoughtsieze or inquisition of kozilek to remove opponents disruption and removal.

the problem is that it cost 8 mana to do the combo in one turn, which is unlikely. so you need to make sure your opponent doesnt have an answer that turn you have to wait before you can activate the amulet

hymn to tourach can be very powerful disruption also

maybe try ancient tomb, or even city of traitors, or crystal vein to help ramp into quicksilver amulet

demonic tutor is the only banned card your using, if you wanted to make it legal you could try spoils of the vault .

i think what you should do is focus on controling the board and your oppoents hand untill you can combo

if i was trying to make a casual monoblack quicksilver amulet deck, it might look something like this:
-----
-combo
4 quicksilver amulet
4 emrakul

-card advantage/ search
4 phyrexian arena
1 spoils of the vault

-disruption
4 duress
4 inquisition of kozilek

-creature removal
3 damnation
4 innocent blood
4 wretched banquet

-mana ramp
4 dark ritual
3 lotus petal
1 chrome mox
-land
20 swamp
