How can't I stop every threat before the whelk comes out? Have you seen the mana cost on guile, it isn't any better. The whelk is a counterspell itself if you didn't know that. I can easily take some damage before I play whelk then use it to block the remainder of lil creatures you think can kill my deck easily. I believe I can buy time until turn 6....not even goblin will stop it. Ok I could see how lackey on turn one would hurt if only a force could counter it if I don't have land.

Instead of mana flare I think you should use lotus bloom. by turn three it will up your storm count and give you three free mana to go off by turn three. I think instead of mirari (since it is to slow for storm) and feldon's cane and the sol rings you should use 4 lotus petals so when you go off you have extra free spells (which happened to give you more mana).

I probably should use ponder instead of accumulated knowledge. I think since it is a counterspell deck and needs all of its mana during your opponents turn, so I think accum would be better then ponder.

the chances are to low to win on turn four considering you only have one way to grab necropotence.

Also you would only be able to draw so many cards with necropotence if you plan on using fastbond to actually win on turn four. To win on turn four you need by turn three, Ivory tower, library of leng, necropotence. Then with the initial ten cards you can draw on turn three you need fastbond, mana flare, drain life (if they were not in your hand). Then you can gain a lil life back with ivory tower and on turn four you could play the fastbond, mana flare, drain life and produce at least 22 mana.

Fastbond and manaflare plus a drain life? Assuming you have 11 lands out and a mana flare, fastbond and drain life on turn four without any draw you would only have 11 cards drawn by turn four. If you meant necropotence with the mana flare, fastbond, drain life on turn four then yes it could win on turn four. To do that you would need a library of leng before you drew cards with necropotence otherwise you would just have to discard the cards you got with necropotence.

I also wish I could afford a shahrazad for this deck but 40$ is a waste for that card.

Well one thing about burn decks (and yes I have played against them in legacy tournaments) is they do not have card advantage. Since you draw more cards then they do it is easy to beat them. I have seen browbeats played in a burn deck before and I usually take the five so they cannot draw or counter them, so they don't get card advantage. You also gotta wait until their initial hand is gone and they lose momentum before you play faeries, so they cannot play multiple burn and you can't counter al

I have two EDH decks that I haven't posted. My wizard with Azami and my artifact with Karn. I am only posting EDH ideas right now. I am working on my battle of wits deck right now and am not sure what I will build next.

Well if you knew how to read, I said this was my "old" counterspell deck. You know when Akroma, Angel of Fury and Cryptic Command didn't exist. Counterbalance was the newest edition I tried once in it before I took it apart. When you play counterspells, if you were smart enough you know that you only need to counter spells that hurt you only or your win condition.

technically if you can only counter 26 spells or a couple more with counterbalance since you don't have top...you can't counter everything. I get it though nice. I am gonna post my counter deck that was really fun right now.

Or I have a better idea! Use the flashback on cabal therapy, cause it has one! Read before questioning.

I will admit, killing a bear will set it back a turn. There are no blanchwood armors because they do not recur like moldervine cloak.

Are you aware there is a card called call to arms? I thought you were using it since the deck was called that. I am disappointed now lol.

I already have two EDH decks, one being Wizards the other pure Artifact with Karn as my general. I have always wanted to use most of the slivers in a deck so I might actually build this one. Please no one comment on the land cause it works.

This is a multiplayer deck and obviously non-competitive, so no counterspells.
