Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

My attempt at a barely modern milling deck. Opinions appreciated. :)

I'm already doing test plays with Twincast, Jace's Phantasm, and Traumatize included to see if I like how they are in this deck.

How to Play

Pretty much I tried to make this punch the opponent's library in the mouth as quick as possible.

Deck discussion for Mill

I've tested chronic flooding extensively, and without any means to tap lands, it is the worst millingcard ever. (Mills an average of 0.2 cards against decks with 18 lands!!! It's too easy to play around)

Keep the deck on a low creaturelevel and get 4 mesmeric orb, which is lethal, (And throw out 1 chronic, 2 curse of the bloody tome and 1 mind sculpt) Most people think this artifact is too dangerous, but it really isn't, trust me, I've can kill legacy goblins if I get 2 of these early game) It also combines well with dreamtwist, netting you an advantage over time, and you could also try it with some darkblasts in sideboard, which is one way to take care of critters. A lot of people will also think that when their lingering souls can be flashbacked, they will win the race of damage vs mill, and most of the time they miscalculate the rate at a high level, dying from either not attacking and being milled, or attacking and being milled much much faster.

Here's some of my own work:

Thank you for the suggestions. I will try that out. Also, what is your opinion about running two traumatize in either main or sideboard?

I checked out your mill v4, looks like a lot of fun :D

There are some who uses 1-2 traumatise in their maindeck, but I've always disliked the card. I'd prefer to use haunted echoes instead :)

Most of my mill-decks have been headaches to play...
I'm better at designing them, than at playing them.

Was it the v4 modern or v4 legacy ?

Yo there, just poping in to tell you that two mill-decks have won nice places in modern, meaning mill is now doable!
I've put the exact designs on my own "page", so go there and have a look if you wan't to try them out...

Since there were two very different designs winning, I think the cards they shared in common should be a hint towards what actually works for mill...

Here's what the two winning designs got in common:
4 hedron crabs
4 archive trap
4 visions of beyond
4 glimpse the unthinkable
3 cards giving slight card advantage (either snapcaster mage or augur of bolas)
2 cards discarding important stuff (either thoughtseize or surgical extraction)
