Unfortunately all of our old forum data is lost forever, and as you all know I made the decision to close the site and forums for the time being.

However, I have had a number of people emailing me (thank-you all by the way) saying how sorry they were that the site is gone and also asking for other member's email addresses so they can stay in contact. Rather than do that I've decided to install some brand new forums and let you guys (if you want to of course) use them to keep in contact.

Feel free to use the forums for whatever you like, but this will at least give us all some sort of "common ground" to chat on.

I just hope the founder of the mtg vault website will come around and have the heart to do the site again, I really liked it along with the use of it. I couldn't find anyother site like it.

Yeah I can't find any other deck builder tool anywhere. Does anyone know of any to tide me over while this site is down?

Hi there people! Unfortunately Gary lost the spark for his website.. And I see that some of you were searching for a similar alternative.. Even if I liked MTGvault, I had to switch with the events you all know.. (Damn people who have nothing to do with their lives..) So.. For all of you who are looking for an alternative I propose : http://www.essentialmagic.com/

It's kind of weird to be posting this stuff but I'm sure Gary will be happy to know we have an exit. But, Thanks Gary for what you have done!

Yours,

A sad user who had to look elsewhere..

Ok, no flaming please.

The people who have made essentialmagic were here before us and are still there now so they must be doing something right. Anybody who makes a website of any form has taken the time and effort to put it together and are allowing people to use it for free (mostly).

I used the vault for 2 years and developed friendships with a lot of people: ILoveGoblins514, THX1138, Gary (sorta) and others, but I am going to most def. going to miss the site *sigh*.

But for those looking for another site, while it doesn't replace the vault, once you get used to it, a good website it tcgplayer.com

Hey I was just wondering, cant Gary make this like other deck building forums and make like a card database where each card will be clickable to view how the card looks like. Then, anyone that wants to post a deck can do so with a new thread and others can just reply on it for suggestions and all that. I know this suggestion is sorta a copy of other deck building sites and nothing to do about to recover the old mtgvault, but at least this allows us to help each other with our decks. Please consider doing so, thanks.

Just curious as to how this happened. Was it a simple SQL injection perhaps? And were the passwords stored in plain text?

I'm a developer myself, and agree with everyone else that mtgvault was the best deck list building site, and would like to offer my services if they can be used, to help get the site back online, and help protect against future attacks.

As exarkun, me and Simon are willing to help with all the knowledge we have about security if that would help bring the actual site up with decks and all. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable since I have the positive kind of paranoia about it.

Might not be the best place to talk about what the security hole was here on the open forum but if you would like to discuss it with me and people like exarkun, set up a private part of the forum and we'll help you out.

That's actually the way the site was before it got hacked. Was the best one I've seen thus far, and from the looks of things Gary might be bringing it back in January.

Thanks Gary. This site was the best resource I've found for ideas and person-to-person info. Keep up the good work.

Guess I'm not a Veteran yet, only being here for like 6 months, but give me some time folks. lol

i wasnt able to get on because of school i and i decided to check up only to find my acount gone and nothing left, and just before i stoped coming things were getting cool to with all the new ideas for the vault. and i just want to go build decks again:(:(:(:(

After an extended period of time doing all sorts of boring things related to academia, I wander back here and see that it has faced death! OH GAWD NO!

Just to let you know, Gary, I agree with everyone else here: MTGVault is THE BEST, HANDS DOWN, deck builder online. Period. And you must not let it die. I stored all my deck info on here, and it was great. The community was always a bit small, but its cool that way.

At any rate, I see that you will be bringing it back online next year, with new *drool* ADDITIONS!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Keep this baby going for years to come!

Sorry for not posting lately. I have alot of stuff on my plate at the moment... I'll check back in around December :)

And hello everyone, again. Nice to see some people still here :)

define small because if you think the deck building community was small it wasnt but just felt small becuse there was no solid connection from the site and the forums.

Hehe, thanks! :)

Hopefully the new site will please, we've already got a rough plan in place for how the new site will work and I'll be taking a couple of weeks off work to do the re-write. I'm hoping that we've learnt from the first version of the site and can now produce a better and more feature-packed site than before!

It's been very interesting to see what people have suggested, funnily enough all things we already had on our list... Just means now we can prioritise them. And drop a couple of ideas that were either difficult to do or haven't even be mentioned (but of course add a couple of things you may not be expecting!!)

Keep the support coming... Gary needs as much pushing as he can get!!
