Main Deck (60 cards)

Planeswalkers (1)

Enchantments (1)

Land (24)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

It is a mono blue mill deck. It was built after Jace Memory Adept and two Traumatizes were obtained. If anyone dares tell you it's impossible to make a decent M14 deck, smack them square across their face, make them look at this, and rub their face into the carpet.

How to Play

Use the mana to summon low-mid cost high defense creatures, and hide behind the wall of creatures as you mill out their deck.

Use Traumatize on yourself if you have a Psychic Spiral. Makes them that much more powerful in late game.

Im not that fit with standard but here are some suggestions from my own (modern) milldeck (http://www.mtgvault.com/muktol/decks/monou-mill/) and my UB-standard milldeck which I don't have in the database yet

If you want to mill with "Doorkeeper" (and that looks to me like you want to do it that way, and counter the rest of your opponents spells)you will need some more defenders. "Doorkeeper", "Wall of Frost" and "Murmuring Phantasm" up to 4 and change from "Seacoast Drake" to "Fog Bank". I would furthermore change from "Phantom Warrior" to "Jace's Phantasm" (No defender but good and cheap blocker)

If you want to control your opponent with counterspells I would try to raise the number of "Essence Scatter" and "Negate" to 3 or 4 and reduce or remove "Cancel"

"Dream Twist" instead of "Tome Scour". It's more expensive to play. but you can cast it again later, when you're out of handcards.
I would try a 1/1 split between "Increasing Confusion" and "Traumatize" to see whats more effective for you.
"Chronic Flooding" is a good spell. It either slows your enemy down because he doesn't want to use those lands (best targets are duallands) or mills him.

Why "Haunted Plate Mail"? I would remove it and use a second "Millstone" instead.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I don't usually mill with Doorkeeper, but it has since proved itself useful when tapped as the opponent finishes his turn. However, I see your point when it comes to its effectiveness. Mind explaining Fog Bank's ability? If I'm not wrong, it appears the only way to destroy it is though instants or sorcery spells. Also, Fog Bank and Jace's Phantasm are going out next rotation, and I'm looking long term legality in this deck. Any alternatives?

On the subject of Negate and Essence Scatter vs. Cancel, I couldn't agree more. Why I put those in, I don't know.

Dream Twist and Increasing confusion are being rotated out with the Innistrad block, so it is out of the question. Chronic Flooding, however, is a possibility.

I have no clue why Haunted Plate Mail was even near this deck. I found myself constantly losing to extort and burn decks, so I subbed in a Staff of the Wild Magus.

Once again, your feedback is great. Seeing as this is my first deck, I need all the help I could get. Considering this was made from what I had lying around, there's room for improvement. I only wish this were a Modern deck, so I'd be able to use your feedback more than I am now. Any further feedback would rock.

Yes, exact: "Fog Bank" cannot receive lethtal damage through combat, only through spells and abilitys e.g. "Tragic Slip" or "Lightning Bolt"

Most standard mill decks use U/B as manabase because they give them e.g. "Breaking/Entering", "Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker", "Paranoid Delusions" and so on. I finally prompted my U/B Mill (http://www.mtgvault.com/muktol/decks/ub-mill/), but as I learned it also needs some help ;)

Possible cards from could be:
"Archaeomancer" Seems to expensive to me, but gives you the chance to use a spell a second time
"Elite Arcanist" Expensive to play. Question is, can you afford not using 1-3 mana for a instant spell (e.g. a counter) nearly every turn. On the other hand it can give you a good mill spell every turn.
"Uncovered Clues", "Last Thoughts" Carddraw
"Crosstown Courier" attacking creature, can either mill 2+ cards or remove a creature (hopefully) ;)
"Hover Barrier" Defender, to raise the defender-count for "Doorkeeper"
"Psychic Spiral" Expensive mill, 1-2 of the for midgame pherhaps

"Elixir of Immortality" Sideboard, against burn and extort. It also shuffles your allready used spells back into your library
"Ratchet Bomb" Sideboard, most extort-creatures are cc1-cc3 if I remember it right, sou you could get rid of them with the bomb very easy. Against burn or creatureles decks not that good (though it can also remove permanents)
"Pithing Needle" sideboard, artefact-hate
"Clone", "Stolen Identity" Sideboard, if you're having trouble with a single, strong, creature or artifact

P.S. Sorry for my bad english, I am no native speaker

I had the same idea as you in terms of Archeomancer;I'm usually able to return Traumatize, TOme Scour, or some sort of counter card to my hand, depending on which is more beneficial.

As for Elite Arcanist, I had no idea about that card. I need to get that card in ASAP.

Uncovered Clues and Last Thoughts would work well, thought the former could get rid of some great cards ie. Jace Memory Adept or Wall of Frost. Last Thoughts would be nice.

If I were to use Crosstown Courier, I would need more counter cards.

Hover Barrier is a necessity, and I can get them for relatively cheap by trading with my friend.

Psychic Spiral wpuld work well against a deck with a great amount of powerful creatures, given that my creatures are being destroyed left and right, or if I'm using spells a plenty.

Any idea on how many of each I should throw in, and what I should swap out?

Also, your mastery of the English language is shocking, knowing you're not a native speaker. I would have never guessed you weren't a native.

Also, should I sub in cancels with Elite Arcanist in?

Last thought works well if you have some creatures that have any sort of avoidance (flying, unblockable, and so on), but in a deck with so many defenders its not that good. Try to raise the number of "Divination" to see if more carddraw really is useful here (Which I think it would be)

I would remove "Phantom Warrior" and "Seacoast Drake" for 4 "Hover Barrier" and 2 "Doorkeeper". Try to print proxy's of "Elite Arcanist" and "Archeomancer", In the end, I would only use one of them. Which one, you need to see and test for yourself. Change from 1 "Claustrophobia" (You have many defenders that can manage enemy creatures) and 1 "Elite Arcanist" to either 2 "Elite Arcanist" or 2 "Archeomancer"
You could also try to change from "Traumatize" to "Psychic Spiral" and see which one fits better to your play style. Put the other one into the sideboard and change if you feel that it won't work.

2 MORE Doorkeepers? Wish I would have checked this yesterday...

Card draw isn't particularly an issue in my deck, and more Divinations mean less defenders and mill cards, though I see your point and will test it.

I agree with removing the Phantom Warriors, though Seacoast Drakes are good start cards (2 cost w/ Flying). You haven't steered me wrong yet, so I'll give it a run.

Claustrophobia can really help with any OP cards (Especially any */* cards), though hopefully I can mill them out before it comes to that.

I'll split Traumatize and Psychic Spiral 1/1 so I have a chance of bouncing Traumatize to my hand, though I may fine tune that later.

Also, should I run multiple Jace, Memory Adepts? What are the rules regarding that?

I would say 4 "Doorkeepers" as this raises your defender count, and is your primal mill card. And cc2 for a 0/4 are not that bad anyway. Say you have 3 of them on the field, so you can tap 1 or 2 to mill and still have 1 defender if something goes wrong.
It is a good card, but you need the defenders for "Doorkeeper".
I would use no more the 3 "Jace, Memory Adepts". With the new legendary rules you could try to run 4 (activate ability of Jace A, cast Jace B, destroy Jace A and activate ability of Jace B) but this is cost intensive (mana AND money ;) ).
I normally play only the planeswalkers I have in my collection, thus there is often no more than 1 of them in a deck.

I'm trading right now to get the two Doorkeepers you suggested. You can also wait until they declare the end of their turn and use the taps as a fast effect before they end it, make them mill, and then declare the start of your turn and untap everything.

I've since split Traumatize and Psychic Spiral 2/3, and it makes an awesome combo, especially late game. Traumatize YOURSELF (it says target player, thus this is possible), then use Psychic Spiral to bounce EVERYTHING back into your library, while increasing the effectiveness of the psychic spiral. Though it is good to have both in hand so you don't mill out your own Psychic Spirals, and it has, at most, a two turn distance, barring any ridiculous spells your opponent casts (ie. Structural Collapse, Demolish, etc.).

If I can find a Jace, it's going in there. Too many times I've waited only to find that he was at the bottom after I lose.
