Deck Description

Compiling this with meta in mind was actually significantly more difficult than I thought. That said, I don't think that it's perfect. However, it better fits what you're trying to achieve, and it is both more efficient and quicker on its feet than the other list.

How to Play

Very much the draw/go style game that you want. Let me highlight some of the singular things:

Narset in the main is replaced with Anticipate. It's quicker, lowers curve, and can be cast on the end step of your opponent's turn. That makes it more conducive to the style you want overall: being able to draw, slam a land, pass the turn, and wait to see what happens with your opponent's board state before ripping it off. This gives you two main advantages: knowing what you want from it better, because you're acting with more information, and giving the you the option to potentially block a threat (via counterspell) that you couldn't have if you tapped out for Narset. Oh, and it doesn't die to Vault.

Ojutai because it's simply the best creature that this deck can play. He's a wincon, a draw engine, and your MVP most of the time. There's a reason he's one of the most played cards in the format right now.

Valorous Stance in the main because it's awesome at removing big creatures (which is a huge chunk of the format) and it can be used to protect Ojutai in a pinch.

Wild Slash because 1 mana for 2 damage is simply good. Killing a turn two Rakshasa Deathdealer for one mana is a great thing. Even better when you can fire off this and an Anticipate on the play.

SIlumgar's Scorn because two mana counter spells (turn-two counter spells) are everything. A lot of games will be decided early for you, and using it as a hard counter when your midrange opponent taps out for their biggies is great. Even better if you can reveal the Ojutai late game.

Roast because a significant chunk of the things you don't to see are on the ground, and out of range of lightning strike. Siege Rhino, Brimaz, Knuckleblade, and Whisperwood just to name a few.

I haven't touched the mana base yet, but will do that analysis later. For now, this is the core that I think will net the most wins, and be the most efficient.

Deck discussion for Jeskai Control

sweet deck. i have been told that nullify is a solid uu drop. havent played it with nullify yet but just do to the fact people tend to play to curve maybe scorn even as a force spike might be just better. i dont run dragons at all. kinda trying to see if i can make it work without buying ojutai. i feel icefall reagent would fit right in at home in this deck tho

Ah, didn't realize that you didn't have Ojutai. I would try to trade for some if you can; it's simply too good. Regent is a great card, but low toughness puts him in range of a ton of kill spells, plus that's not what you want to be doing, as far as draw-go style. He's maybe a 6.5/10 creature, and it's not worth breaking the mold of what you want to do for him. Nullify is fine, it gets the job done; and is probably a better fit than Scorn for your Dragonless list.

It's good, and gets online with Elspeth well, as does anything with Convoke. But you want to focus removal that you can use anytime, and not have to save mana for when creatures attack/block. Control is about having choices all the time; the choice to counter now, or remove later via a different spell is pivotal. Try to limit cards that put you in a specific situation; you're looking for cards that you can sling on your schedule. Which is the whole point of control: to put you in the driver's seat at every step of the game.
