Deck Description

Ah, when I first started playing Magic the Gathering. Before all that Ravnica confusion and aggro deck hating in standard. It was nice before Ravnica came along. Not that I'm saying Ravnica was a bad block (if there's any bad block, it's in innistrad. TOO MANY AGGRO DECKS AND THEY WERE WAY TO POWERFUL!!!!!! Before coming into such multicolored decks, I had something like a mono black control. It was there where I discovered doom blade was a pain in the ass! Until it became non- standard (and now it's standard again!) after running mono-black for a little bit, I traded some cards for one of the most powerful mythic rates I have ever seen: Phyrexian Obliterator.

When my brother saw it when he started playing, he was horrified that it could (no pun intended) obliterate a lot of shit when dealt damage, so there was no way it could be removed other than, we'll removal spells, but it was still hard to get rid of. I swear, back in that day, Phyrexian Obliterator was the shit. I've heard everyone say they had 4 for their deck and everyone wanted my 2 obliterators.

I was disappointed to know later that it was going to leave standard on October. I ran mono black control with it in 1 tournament. It got 2nd place, out of 5 people, but still it's a record I guess. It left on October, and now I had to deal with decks like bant control which btw, pissed me off. No creatures to destroy, because they were running PLANESWALKERS!!!!!!

Ah, good times....

So I've decided to rebuild the deck in a casual format with a major competitive upgrade. Instead of hoping to live around turn 4 for Obliterator, I sped it up a bit.

How to Play

So how this deck works is play a lot of black mana (I assure you it will be easy because of playsets of Crypt Ghasts, Dark Rituals, and Cabal Rituals.) what do you do with that mana? Get major big shit out and wreck people with it! Sounds fun, right? The only form of removal I have is Murder and Doom Blade, and if that isn't enough, then Phyrexian Obliterator will take care of the rest.

There is a lot more of deck thining because there's Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse for searching of basic lands and Diabolic Tutor (which I'm also glad to see in standard!) to search for anything.

So yeah, MTG back then. I thought it was amazing, a nice break from the $700 Yugioh decks I had to suffer. I was playing a real card game that made more sense and started out more slower. Man, was I happy now!

To be honest, I don't have the deck in real life, but I have proxies of all the cards i need for the deck and I have tested it and it does pretty well just as long as no one board wipes or shit like that.

Well then, I bid you farewell, for now. May Phyrexian Obliterator ever be in my soul.
