Deck Description

Feedback and suggestions are appreciated! Deck has not been play tested.

This deck was built around Baral, Chief of Compliance. While building this deck I accidentally stumbled upon a combo with Fling and Enigma Drake, while playing Insult on top of it.

The goal with this deck was to counter and burn your opponents as fast as possible and end the game with the Fling + Enigma Drake + Insult combo. Even if your opponent attempted to counter it you could just counter their counter.

-=||NOTES & CHANGES||=-

[{ MAIN BOARD }]
• Swapped out 3x Just the Wind for 3x Fiery Temper.
______________________________________________________________________________
• Swapped out 1x Curious Homunculus, 1x Stormchaser Mage, 1x Startled Awake, and 1x Overwhelming Denial of 4x Thing in the Ice.
(Shoutout to { http://www.mtgvault.com/thevanished/decks/turn-4-instakill/ }
Thing of the Ice ensure massive damage by turn 4-5 with perfect hand).
______________________________________________________________________________
• Swapped out 1x Commit // Memory, 1x Fiery Temper, and 1x Insult // Injury for 3x Borrowed Hostality.
(I needed a faster and easier way to deal 3 more damage to ensure I get max output with Fling).
______________________________________________________________________________
• Swapped out 1x Geier Reach Sanitarium and 2x High Lake for 1x Spirebluff Canal and 2x Aether Hub.
(Aether Hub seemed to be a better option for colorless mana than Geier Reach Sanitarium, as you can tap Aether Hub once for one of any color. High Lake entered in tapped it was to slow of an option compared to Aether Hub. 1x More Spirebluff was better than a High Lake and Geier Reach Sanitarium).

• Swapped out 2x Void Shatter for 2x Magma Spray.
(Needed a 1 mana card to help take ice counters off of Thing in the Ice on turn 3, for the turn 4 combo).

• Swapped out 2x Void Shatter for 2x Anticipate from Sideboard.
(Since the decks setup for massive damage, Anticipate is more necessary to get certain cards as soon as possible to ensure a quick win rather than a couple counters)

[{ SIDEBOARD }]
• Swapped out 2x Limits of Solidarity for 2x Fevered Visions.
(More perm draw and possible perm damage to the opponent was more viable than temp creature control and cycling).
______________________________________________________________________________
• Swapped out 2x Burn from Within and 1x Open to Wonder for 3x Anticipate.
(Very strong and cheap draw was more a necessity than the little extra fire power).

How to Play

4-Turn-Win-Combo [ GLHF ]
______________________________________________________________________________
• Turn 1: Play Island, pass turn.
• Turn 2: Play Mountian, Cast Thing in the Ice, pass turn.
• Turn 3: Play Land, take 2 counters off of Thing in the Ice (Attempt 3), pass turn.
• Turn 4: Play Land, Cast Burning Hostility and Transform Thing in the Ice, Swing for 10 damage, Cast Fling sacrificing Thing in the Ice dealing 10 more damage.
______________________________________________________________________________
Baral, Cheif of Compliance must be in play. Burn and counter your opponents.
Curious Homunculus will help with early mana and spell casting.
______________________________________________________________________________
Use Fling on Enigma Drake, to ensure damage play Insult. You have the ability to one shot your opponent or anything if you have enough instant/sorcery cards in your graveyard.
______________________________________________________________________________
If you need to discard, discard these cards:
• Commit // Memory: (Memory can be played to shuffle your graveyard into library)
• Fiery Temper: (Has madness cost of {R} use it on opponent or small creature)
• Startled Awake: (Cast from graveyard, swing with it, goes to your hand)
• Insult // Injury: (Injury can be played, not recommended. Recyclable with Memory)
______________________________________________________________________________
There is absolutely no lifegain in this deck, so don't let your opponents damage you!

Deck discussion for Overwhelming Denial

Um, you put in Sea Gate Wreckage with no Colorless sources. Whoops. Aether Hub, Blighted Cataract, and Geier Reach Sanitarium are all viable to give you colorless mana.

Thank you for the feedback, totally spaced on that.

Added a Geier Reach Sanitarium, replacing a Spirebluff Canal.

Wow, awesome idea! Only thing I would suggest is putting in Anticipate instead of Just the Wind. Ooh! or replace it with Fiery Temper, then if you discard it, you can get some extra value out of it, for cheaper?

Not sure about the Anticipate as it has no discard value at all.

I did have Fiery Temper in mind, although I kept the Just the Wind in-case I needed to bounce a creature, like my own if I needed. Although, I do have the Commit // Memory to recycle so I wouldn't have to worry about losing a creature.

I suppose Fiery Temper would be more valuable in this situation so I'll switch it out and take note of it.

Thank you for the feedback!

I just realized that you can get a turn 4 win with this fling combo. Check it out:

I am really enamored with the idea of this deck, to the point where I might go and make my own. I do have a few suggestions though:

Pull From Tomorrow is simply bonkers on its own, and in a deck like this one running mild discard synergies, it seems even more insane. It also fits really well with all of the cost reduction you're running.

Depending on how much you want to focus on discard and graveyard synergies, you may want to include more discard effects. Something slow and repetitive like Key to the City or more copies of Baral (Maybe some extra Sanitariums) if you want a lot of repeated value, or a few Tormenting Voices and Cathartic Reunions to improve hand quality and burn stuff.

Hope that helps.

I like Key to the City, that is really neat! And for Baral, more copies aren't needed since you can only have one of him in play at a time due to the "Legend Rule" and the Sanitarium seem a bit slow to me compared to Aether Hub even though the draw and discard was a nice tool. The Tormenting Voices and Cathartic Reunion seem pretty interesting as well.

I'll look into some discard synergies see if I can wiggle something in the deck. Thank you for the feedback!

Just so you know, Fling doesn't combo as well with Enigma Drake as I wish it did. Fling is still on the stack, so it won't be counted toward Enigma Drake's power. Same with Insult on the stack. Still seems like a great deck though

how in the world do you take two counters off on turn 3. is this assuming you have a 1 cmc spell and a 2 cmc spell in your hand or what?

Anticipate+Magma Spray.
Magma Spray x2
Magma Spray + Overwhelming Denial (surge)
Borrowed Hostility + any 2/1 drop

There are many ways to do it, take your pick.
