Deck Description

To the walls!

So what banned cards on the Legacy list(if any) do /you/ play as if they weren't when it comes to casual shenanigans?

Skullclamp, Survival, Gush, and Mind Twist are the options I like. Some people play with some of the more intense choices, but almost only in decks not designed with the singular purpose of abusing them.

Deck discussion for To the windows!

What cards do I use/abuse for casual? Sol Ring is a must... always. Followed by Mind Twist and Demonic Tutor for any black deck I build and Wheel of Fortune for anything I splash red into.

Sol Ring is pretty epic, but we have an artifact player who would unleash an untold hell with affinity if we let that one in, and we know it. Mind Twist and Demonic Tutor are just epic, and while Demonic Tutor is beyond insane in combo, I find it quite okay in pretty much anything else. I am a bit surprised by Wheel of Fortune though, I forgot that was even on the banned list @_@

Also, how've you been? Was about to ask on the Zombie hate deck when it dinged

Sol RIng is awesome for every deck in casual EXCEPT affinity. In that it gets so abused. Demonic Tutor I find useful outside of combo decks all the time. I mean it's two mana to grab anything in your deck without revealing it. And Wheel of Fortune... hands down my favorite red card of all time. I'm not much for red, but that card is always present if I am using any other red. Splashing it with Underworld Dreams and Megrim/Liliana's Caress is always fun.

I've been well. Staying busy with work. Finally have weekends off so I play D&D/Pathfinder every Saturday and practice with my band every Sunday. We're currently in the infant stages of recording our EP. I finally got the last of the recording software I needed to start. We have two scratch track's fleshed out with drums and ready to record legit guitars, but Sean and Rich want to find and establish a new tone to their guitar sounds... sooooo, maybe in a million years we will get guitars recorded. Hahaha! I'm kidding, I just know how guitar players are with their "tone". I told them they both needed to get a Line 6 POD HD500X and the problem will be solved. We shall see...

Yeah... Affinity with Sol Ring is insane. Demonic Tutor is useful, but not brokenly so, so I don't blame you for using it. Wheel of Fortune like that is just cruel though, I like it.

That's good. And I think we might do our next campaign in Pathfinder if nobody wants to build their character for M&M... GM RAAAAAAGE!
Also, hell yeah for that! And what Sean and Rich are going to do is go on a magical journey, and see if they can find the Holy Grail, they will not. But they will use the closest they can get(a solo cup from wal-mart perhaps, or something carved from the tusk of an elephant even). I have grown to love Guitar Rig 5 from Native Instruments, I dunno if they would, but I can get just about every tone I want to. If you spring out the additional cash for the pro version you get some really great options to flesh it out more fully.

Well whatever tone they settle on is something we want to be able to replicate live as well. We know that with recording it will always sound better on the EP than live, but we want to stay as true as possible as well when do it live. I've been playing around on superior drummer a lot and have gotten close to what my drums sound like along with better clarity. I can send you a scratch track to show you what we have in the works. Just need an email from ya. You can send it privately through the forum side of this place.

True. One thing I really want to try is the new Orange Dual Dark 50w, thing sounds absolutely epic, and it'd be something I could take with me most places, and all without needing a laptop >_>
I've been looking into Superior, because I need something I can program drums with, but gaaaah that is not a cheap product. Cool to know that you got your sound with a bit of added clarity with it though.

Also, you know I'm always going to say I'd like to hear it. I'll send you a message on the forum.

I think if there's anything more fun than abusing the crap out of Skull Clamp, it's Survival of the Fittest.

They are quite fun to ab/use aren't they? Also, I never really saw the reason Survival was banned in the first place. I played against it, and the only negative thing I thought about it was that Loyal Retainers with Iona was quite painful in a post-MT world.

I haven't the slightest idea why it was banned either. It's really just an ever-so-slightly 'better' version of Fauna Shaman, which is never going to be banned...Seems odd to me.

And while I am and always will be a strong advocate against Skull Clamp's ban, I can see more reasons for its banishment versus SoTF =/

Donno why, but I thought Souls of the Faultless when I saw SoTF. Haha! That card is bastard.

I was blown away when it happened, I genuinely enjoyed going against these. ROSEWATER!

Skull Clamp really did, and while I wouldn't mind it coming back personally, I know a few people who would aggressively argue against it.

Souls of the Faultless is the devil. That card in budgeted casual is such a freaking pain.
