Deck discussion for I M3hd a M177 D3ck!

what do you do if I play a 1/1 creature on turn 1?

Gird my loins, stick my chin out and take that 1/1 punch until turn 4 when he and his buddies go away :)

what do you do when I play 5 1/1 creatures for 1 mana each on turn 5?

Scream "Get to tha Choppa!!!" and play evacuation... or wait for them to swing in and AEtherise them... Or Whelm them assuming you don't like fish...

Turn 5 the deck is settling in to mill you and control the board you needed to have them dudes out sooner.

Im enjoying this :) no one ever asks me anything on my decks :) how many questions before I earn a like? :D

5 turns + 7 card draw = 12 cards minimum. 5 of those optimally will be land. So you have 7 cards to do anything. 1 of those cards will be your Whelming wave.

Turn 1 you can play serum visions, bringing you up to 7 cards, turn 2 you can play howling mines bringing you up to 7 on turn 3, turn 3 you can play kruphix for 8 cards on turn 4, turn 4 you whelming wave me. In that time I have probably dealt 7 damage to you.

turn 5 I now have 4 creatures that can deal 7 damage to you again on turn 6 and have 7 cards in hand because of kruphix and howling mine. All youve done is bounce my creatures.

How do you set up your win condition?

If we are playing the optimal game im looking at 1:Serum, 2:Mine, 3:Sphinx, 4:Wave / Mine? / Kruphix? even if your only losing 4 a turn its just become a long game... Even if it worked out like above, im patient, your creatures assuming they don't have haste, will have to take another wave, sleep, evacuate, Aether and ill wait it out till i can do both sphinx and protect myself, there's enough cards flowing to restock.

I mean this is the point where im thinking of sideboard cards to deal with weenie decks, as my opponent what would you not like to see come in assuming I run dry of control and you swarm me?

what stopping me from playing the same creatures over and over again until you empty your hand?

Nothing :) that's the fun part who runs out first! My denial or your library? But I'm drawing lots too and 14 cards are creature control, another 4 will at least hickup you and either lose you something or force you to have less on board to pay it's cost, with the game running long all your creatures will end up in a 7 card hand with you vomiting them all out onto the table. What happens when a puzzle box hits after a bounce and your cream filtered over several turns ends up on the bottom of your library? Will the 7 you draw be suitable or will I suddenly get a breather to stick out two dictates or mines and ramp the mill up further?

What your describing is the worst spot for this deck, lots of cheap creatures I have to constantly bounce tap etc, I would certainly be holding my breath on each draw step.

I'm certainly thinking I need to consider some method of killing when it comes to the little guys, blue is short of murdering sweep attacks, so it would have to be a creature... Cheap and possibly sea life...

I've played something close to this a loong way back.
spore frog was new to the meta and timetwister was legal.
I played 3 colors, blue to let players draw and discard, green for fog and frogs and red for winds of change to keep combo away from it's vital hand. It did'nt go far, but I had some very fun games with it.

The "prevent attacks" constantly can work, but can also be cut through at ease by some decktypes (And there are many in modern)

Your biggest threat is emrakul.

Bootsncatsn : didn't expect you to say that card, could you expand? im only seeing the benefit on the mines and sphinx?

Wickeddarkman : Yeah the flying plate of Carbonara is nasty although there arnt many decks that I know of that don't call it a day when his noodly ass hits the table...

I guess general weaknesses have to be accepted in a mono deck...

Avoid weaknesses by making it dual colored :D

I can recommend splashing noxious revival, which will allow you to play more sweep.

I can also recommend that you add at least 2 lands to cast your sweep more reliably.

The puzzlebox is good at stopping combo, but is pretty steep in it's cost. Is it worth the slot?

Noodly ass? OMG emrakul is the flying spaghetti-monster!!?!

May his sauces bring you fortune... hmm will have to look into working in an extra colour... it always spikes the cost of lands :D

Quicken turns your Whelming Waves and Sleeps into 8 more copies of Evacuation while still giving you card draw. Its Serum visions but without the Scry and turns sorceries into instances. Up to you if you think Scry is more important.

This deck is dead in the water against Aggro. Even for a control deck its got nothing going for it.

Perhaps the anti-aggro is in the sideboard and kept secret :D

Im curious why you spent quite so long commentating on a deck that has nothing going for it? about 90% of my decks (with the exception of the pauper ones that are demonstrably pretty ok) are that :) and the world has stayed quiet, what drew you hear Boots? Not being snarky or anything its been fun commenting im just genuinely curious :)

He's probably curious too :D

I know I was curious, and could see the general idea because I've spent time with "bouncerdecks" before.

Nope still confused :) Essentially (in your opinion) this deck is a helicopter made of bread... And you have just spent time commenting on white or granary rather than just saying 'This thing is not going to get off the ground you know' from the start...
