Deck Description

So I've generally been away from MTG in the last couple weeks, I even missed FNM last week! GASP! It was a fairly pleasent surprise to come back on here and see my first deck hit the main page! I'm glad people have liked my deck, and that I keep getting a lot of awesome suggestions! :D

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I dropped Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger in here, simply for the additional amount of ramp. I also happen to really like him. Expect a deck for each of the Praetor's in the future. :3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My attempt at an EDH deck.. ummm yea. Thrun is my general.

This is my first try and I am unaware of any banlistings or anything, so help and input would be greatly appreciated. :3

*************************************************************

Thank you for all of your suggestions! You guys have been a great help for me!

**************************************************************

Thanks for the banlist for EDH, I had to make a couple swaps, but it looks pretty good now. :D

But yea, I'm kinda stuck on the creation.. I'm gonna go to sleep for now. I'll take a look at this tomorrow. Good to see some quick support though. :3

nice deck. so to get 99 cards in your deck +5 lands and:
wolfbrair elemntal, terastodon, Traproot Kami+wall of vines (maybe, only for overgrown battlement), mana reflection, doubling season, arbor elf, Joraga Treespeaker, khalni heart expedition, khalni hydra, proteon hydra, doubling cube....
and so on, there are alot of stuff to put in a green edh.....
good luck

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions but I had a couple already in, and one conflicted with me taking Forests out in favor of Snow-Covered Forest. But a lot of these were great suggestions and I added most of them. :D

Big help

i know these may not fit but may i suggest: vigor, master of the wild hunt, primalcrux + scute mob

I chose Wolfbriar over Master because Master relies on me having Forests, which I swapped out in favor of another suggestion. :3 I did put a lot of consideration into Vigor and Primalcrux though. I still am, but I don't know what I would remove. If you could suggest what to swap for them, it would greatly help.

Use snow-covered forests that way other green players don't benefit from extraplanar lens

also a bit of a dick move... sorry, i'd feel pissed if my opponent ran that card plus snow-covered lands when i would have had the same lands. i would run snow covered forests against you if i ever played you :P

Looks like you'll have to take out Skullclamp and Emrakul... I would swap It That Betrays for Emrakul, easy choice there, though for Skullclamp there really isn't a comparable card... it's just SO BROKED.

Though I do have a couple unrelated suggestions:
Darksteel Plate: Makes Thrun (or whatever) ever HARDER to get rid of
Whispersilk Cloak: Same as above, with bonus evasion!
Eternal Witness: A good green card in general, and a FANTASTIC late game draw in EDH
Essence Warden: TONS of life in this format, it's too small to use removal on but just gains crazy amounts of life!
Ant Queen: Need something to do with all that mana late game? WEEE!
Worldly/Sylvan Tutor: Find that creature you need NOW

Hope those are helpful... <3 EDH

hhmm actually you can play skullclamp on EDH, it is not on the list

He's right, no Skullclamp there, but I did catch Protean Hulk. So I'm looking for something to swap that for.. I might go for Sylvan Tutor. And I choose this over Ant Queen because I already have Wolfbriar, which can offer up more/stronger tokens :3 Good suggestion though!

And yes, It That Betrays. I was gonna throw that guy in before, but couldn't find any room.. so now that I have room, he gets a slot. I also have Ulamog, I like the huge body he offers, and he lets me destroy a troublesome permanent.. Indestructability is a bonus.

Again, thanks for the help. :3

Although the Darksteel Plate is very tempting for me as it would aid me with most board wipes. I've never played EDH so I don't know how concerned I should be with Evasion, but I do have Canopy Cover, but perhaps I could swap Canopy Cover with Whispersilk Cloak... I think I'll make that swap due to the re-useability.

Actually I settled on Darksteel Plate because of the threat of boardwipes against this deck.

The problem I ran into with running the big eldrazi in my mono green EDH is that they always get taken by someone else. When your staring down an ulamog that you cranked out either turn 4 or 5, your in big trouble since I can't think of many ways for green to get rid of him.....other than that enchantment that turns it into a treefolk wall. Anyway, hope that helps ya somehow. Just put my omnath edh up, check it out, you might find cards that you haven't thought of yet or combos un-thought of. OH YEA, also consider running a constant mist, it's fog for 2 but a buyback of 3 so it's really cool

a few suggestions from experience:
Wirewood Guardian, green EDH suffers from a lack of card draw, this helps especially when combo's with rampaging baloths and...

Crucible of Worlds, awesome card, lots of edh decks have land destructions, and works really well with...

Terramorphic expanse and Evolving wilds, deck thinning and comboing capabilities

Also, Azusa could work in this deck, and for more ramp you want Kodama's Reach and Search for Tomorrow

And Tooth and Nail is always awesome, and should definitely be in this deck

I'm definately looking into your suggestions, I really like Crucible of Worlds, and I haven't seen Tooth and Nail before, definately a couple of great suggestions!

I'm surprised I hadn't thought of Terra Exapanse and E. Wilds, no real downside to them in the deck, I'll definately be adding those. As with Azusa. :)

Thanks for the awesome suggestions

you need to put in Vigor, it is an awesomely amazing card. Also, I would be a grateful person if you took a look at my EDH.

I had to look at Vigor again and damn, he a combination of dirty and sexy. I think he definately deserves a spot in the deck.

Sure, I suppose I could look at your deck. Like I said before though, I'm pretty new to EDH so I don't really know what to look for. Seems like some of these other guys in here are pretty good at EDH, I've gotten a lot of great feedback and suggestions.

Kozilek. Who doesn't like a big eldrazi?

I originally put in Ulamog because I liked that he could destroy a permanent upon entering, but the more I look at it, I'm not sure how great that would be, being able to destroy 1 permanent. I think I will drop him in favor of Kozilek

Rofellos is banned as a Commander;

I would rather suggest that you use Omnath as a Commander and shove Thrun back in the deck. Omnath is cheaper to cast and will allow for that insane mana curve you are looking for.

Cheers!

I know there might be some better commanders out there, but I wanted to make this deck because I really like Thrun. The fact that he is tough as hell to kill is a big bonus for me. I do believe I still have Omnath in there, and I have a few ways of pulling him from the deck to either my hand or the field.

Thanks for the suggestions though! Keep them coming

I think that slice in twain is inneficient and a waste, replace it with a rancore. Rancore is pretty awesome, anything with a rancor on it is instantly better.

Could you also do me a kind favor and look at this?

Slice in Twain is very inefficient, but in all honesty if the deck is running right, I shouldn't need to tap more than 1 land to use it, its not like I wouldn't have the mana. Green's problem comes down to draw power, so I need as much as I can get and that lets me destroy something along with getting a draw. So I don't really mind that its a tad overcost.

Sure I'll take a look.

I personally wouldnt run Thun as your general, I think Ormnoth would be much better...
