Extort is a pretty cool mechanic, but to get the most out of it you need heaps of spells to play.That's where cipher comes in. WIth cipher you have virtually limitless spells to play, made easier through the creatures who have evasion through flying to continue to proc cipher

forget cipher... unless you can make sure you hit for damage each turn for the ability to trigger, its just useless + they cost too much mana... what you need is cheap spells so you can have enough mana for them to cast and pay the extort while you swing for damage. i'll go for vile rebirth instead of cremate, pontiff of blight instead of undercity plague and essence harvest and disciple of bolas work well with the desecration demon. the only flyer able to attack is the screecher which at 1/2 is easily taken care of. the demon is probably going to stay tapped especially against token decks.

I've tried making an esper deck based around this strategy. The only problem is it didn't work, not because of mana, what I was drawing in the process. It DOES work, you just have to give it a chance
