Deck Description

Standard legal, built with cards from the blocks M13, Innistrad (Innistrad, Dark Ascension and Avacyn Restored), M14 and Return to Ravnica (Return to Ravnica, Gatecrash and Dragon's Maze)

I wanted to see if a standard mill deck was possible, and how tough it could get beating one. So this is what I came up with and tough it can not rival with a modern deck, not even with a monoU, it is fun playing and you have to watch when going after one.

I own many those cards, tough not all and I'm using proxys for the rest, and I have played this deck many times. I'm open to all suggestions and ideas that may help to further improve this deck.

How to Play

This deck focuses on milling your opponent with spells or ability's.
Important enemy creatures can be removed with some spells, but "Jace's Phantasm" and "Wight of Precinct Six" should keep most of them down.
"Shriekgeist" and "Paranoid Delusions" can mill 5 cards per turn, Pilfered Plans gives you some card advantage while you mill and wait for "Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker" or "Jace, Memory Adept" to finish the game.

After the first game you can switch to self- mill. "Chronic Flooding" will mill you fast, while "Forbidden Alchemy" helps to get what you need on the table, which is "Laboratory Maniac". It's a dangerous move tough as you don't have any tutors to make sure that the Maniac is in your hands or on the battlefield when you need it.

Deck discussion for U/B Standard: Mill

Mirko Vosk I've found is a great milling creature. Having to mill until you hit four lands every-time he does player damage is pretty nasty.

I wanted to test "Balustrade Spy", "Undercity Informer", "Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker" and "Consuming Aberration" but I'm a little bit unsteady about the mana-costs. And I don't know which card I should remove for one of those at the Moment ;)

At the moment im trying to add "Pilfered Plans" to this deck, but the only card I could change would be "Dimir Charm" and I think this deck needs at last one counter.

You can't worry about counters. The more counters that you have, the less mill you have. The opponent will always have more counters than you. So you just have to not worry about them. If it makes you feel better about running out of mills, use the 1 elixir of immortality in the side board if you find you are running out of mill cards to fast...Also, your mana curve is already 5 so Mirko won't truly affect it much. I'd take out the guildmages and put in the Mirko.
