Ever hear of the old Solar Flare deck from Japan? The namesake comes from the wincon Angel of Despair being bald like Krillin or Tien Shinhan. This is an attempt to recreate something similar with the also-bald Agent of Treachery. Wipes, ramp and big threats. Some jank as an additional theme of stealing your opponents permanents. Solar Eclipse is an hommage to the original deck, removing White from the Esper list, as if the sun has been blotted out from the sky....
The basic idea is dimir control. Disrupt the hand, destroy the board, set the game in your favour. I.e. Bontu's Last Reckoning, Ultimate Price, Thoughtseize.There are a few key elements here. The OG Flare list has six 2cmc mana rocks in the form of the signets from original Ravnica. A 3 mana rock pales in comparison, and we aren't running green either! The closest I can find is Corrupted Grafstone, which is surprisingly good with some early interaction. If you can opt, cycle censor or Thoughtseize on turn 1, you will almost always have Grafstone active on time. Its slower than the signets late game because it enters tapped, but its damn close.Theres also the ability to recur your creatures and dump card draws into the graveyard. Search for Azcanta, Monastary Siege are really the only ways to do this, so instead of Zombify, we are running Connive // Concoct. Same effect, but it also gives you the flexibility to steal the smaller creatures on the board.Deprive and Mystic Sanctuary is a well know combo now in modern, so I've included 2 copies of Disappearing Act to perform the same lockdown. Cast Disappearing Act and return Sanctuary to your hand so you play the land and get your counterspell back every turn. This works also with Agent of Treachery, being able to return Agent to your hand and steal another permanent.In short, I hope this is just a fun brew to play with. KAMEHAMEHAAAAAAA
