Deck Description

Encore!

This is a Budget Deck (BD for short). It is meant primarily for casual play, and its estimated mid value is aimed to land between 10 and 20 US dollars at most. Take this detail into consideration when browsing the deck!

I mostly use MTG Vault for my own private projects nowadays, but feel free to comment or request a deck of your choice. I've loved the Vault so far, and I like that they are still improving on it, as well as I am improving on my English language skills.

So, if you like what you see, consider checking out some of my other budget-y work from the link below.

How to Play

Cast those spells again!

This deck is all about recasting instants and sorceries. Whether accomplished by graveyard retrieval, flashback-abilities, or even rebound, this deck excells at squeezing out every single drop of value possible from its spells. All this combined with a handful of useful creatures caring about spellcasting makes sure you won't easily run out of tricks to pull off!

Even though this deck can easily pull off a lot of damage from spells alone, most of the time you'll also need the support of various creatures to win you the game. Electrostatic Infantry is a good example of an early game creature fit for this category, while Charmbreaker Devils or even Captain Ripley Vance can dominate later on when your resources allow it.

When certain opponents prove problematic, consider grabbing a card or two from the sideboard. This allows you to cleverly edit this deck to challenge your own playgroup's needs!

Cons:
- Dislikes enemy healing.
- A bit more vulnerable against graveyard-hate than your average mono red burn.

Deck discussion for BD: Once More, With Feeling!

I'd go with Young Pyromancer over Charmbreaker Devils. While you don't get the spell back, those tokens can really help push damage, and keep down that total CMC!

In that you are absolutely correct.

This time I just really wanted to rely into that "spell recursion theme", hence the devils are in. That is partially why I also included Unexpected Windfall, since it also generates treasures which can be used to enable the devils. I could add the Pyromancer to the sideboard though...

I removed Thermo-Alchemist in all my (pauper) decks and added Kessig Flamebreather instead.
The "jump start" keyword could also be worth a look: Direct Current, Risk Factor, Maximize Velocity

Not a bad idea. Kessig Flamebreather is a good alternative, yet I think that since it is double as expensive, I'll keep the alchemist in for now.
