Deck discussion for Budget Decks: "Hiiyah!"

Why not revoke existence over disenchant?

I don't know, I really like the instant speed and...
you know, exiling is useful only in something like 10% of situations...

I disagree. Exile is VERY powerful. I use it constantly and to great effect. Exiling a Leyline is super amazing.

Strongly agree that exile is more powerful than destroy. Why leave any chance it comes back when there's no downside to making sure it stays away forever?

Sword of Kaldra agrees. "Exiletouch" is far cooler than death touch.

At worst, exiling is like destroying something. At best, exile is a lifesaver.

In my experience though, exiling enchantments is rarely useful. Exiling creatures is sometimes a necessity ... just look at Northy's damn gravecrawler.

Exiling Enchantments also prevents effects like Bruna, or fetch cards like Witness from going off, and often enchantments are a core winning mechanic for some other decks you can face. Particularly in Budget ranges.

Hmm ... that darksteel forge sure is a compelling argument.

Exiling my Gravecrawlers, huh?
Well, no need to argue about Revoke Existence anymore. I removed Disenchants in order to add Door of Destinies. Guess Oblivion Ring can handle all the removing. Hopefully.

Forgot about it being a sorcery. I play mostly EDH, and exiling pretty much everything is almost a necessity when we play. Most of the removal in all our decks pretty much revolves around exile this or that lol.

Yes. Removal in EDH is always important.

Cool, Samurai must be a hot topic these days! I just made a budget-ish commander deck exploiting Bushi Tenderfoot's awesomness :-)

wouldn't 'Samurai of the Pale Curtain' make the effect of 'Indebted Samurai' useless. Because the permanents are never going to the graveyard, neither your own samurais.
I can understand you put it in but if both are on the battlefield one is just a normal samurai.

But nonetheless it's a great deck.

True... But against decks abusing their own graveyard, Samurai of the Pale Curtain is a véry fine asset! I play a lot of multiplayer, so I'd keep it in the deck either way.

Actually, that is one of the reasons why Wizards updated the text with: "Whenever (cardname) dies..." instead of "Whenever (cardname) is put into graveyard from the battlefield..."

i have a comission for you northy, a green red satyr/xenagos tribal with a minimum of one xengos reveler planeswalker in it. if you can squeeze it in, the god of revels as well, but the planeswalker is a priority :D

Thankee

I'll create it for you. I guess I'll be able to fit at least the Planeswalker, but I don't promise anything about the god.

I don't get the Sensei Golden-Tail.

All your creatures are already samurai and already have Bushido.
You could leave it out and add another Grappling Hook.
Also, have you considered Araba Mothrider?

0

You know that creature can have multiple Bushidos?
As example, if I give training counter to Kitsune Blademaster it will have both Bushido 1 and Bushido 1! (It gets +2/+2 whenever it blocks or becomes blocked.)

Northy, do you think you could make a yisan EDH deck? I've been looking and haven't found a good one yet. Budget of course, I just want to know what would go well with him... by the way, awesome bushido deck, although I feel like brave the elements should have a place somewhere in here. And I like the aggro aspect.

Very solid deck, I like it. +1! I was going to suggest umezawa's jitte, but then I figured adding a single card of those would triple the cost of this deck. Still, yet another great deck!

Noooo! This deck was already taken off the HOT DECK list. Too bad you can only have 2 up there at a time. I really like this one since it uses an old mechanic that no one is expecting (like Knights with FLANKING). Taking a closer look, I have to admit I'm a big fan of low mana curves. I've always been a fan of Door of Destinies (or Coat of Arms - non-budget though DOH!), especially in Tribal decks, except that Door of Destinies is kinda slow. Everything before turn 5 don't add to the charge counters...

Hmmm. How about 2 Serra's Blessing (2-mana, all creatures you control have vigilance). It'll make FULL use of the Bushido mechanic. Attacking and blocking. ;-)

...or, maybe even The Humorless lady?
By the way, thank you for being such nice person. Not too many person congratulate me about the Hot Deck list. Though it doesn't bother me much if they're taken off. At least others have better chances then.

Great idea man! Totally forgot about Masako. Great girl who gives vigilance and since it has flash? Smash up their creatures when they attack while thinking you cannot block hahahah.

So i apologize for doing this here, but here it goes. I'm currently trying to make a b/u/g edh deck around the mimeoplasm. I was trying to come up with a way to abuse the grave but still keep my hydra theme since I'm just converting my u/g vorel edh. The issue I'm running into is only me and one other player are usually the only ones that keep a hefty grave since the others run 2 of the 3 main eldrazi. The other player runs mostly sorceries and instants though. So I'm asking for any and all advice.. As for budget, as long as I can keep it between $200-$300 midrange that'd be great. Id appreciate any help.

Whatcha think about Honor of the Pure? I think a few should still be able to keep this deck budget. A 2-drop for all white creatures you control to get +1/+1? I love Honor of the Pure in mono-white decks.

I know the Honor of the Pure... but could Light from Within perform even better?

0
Posted 14 August 2014 at 17:08

Light from Within is also great, but it's a 4-drop. That's why I don't like it as much. I have it in a few other decks, but only because there is higher white devotion.
