Deck discussion for To the grave

For standard - idea is clear. Mill, mill, mill, survive, and destroy! No sideboard, since so far this is a work in progress. Let me know what you think or if you have a suggestion for improvement!

Psychic Spiral would be amazing in this deck! I like Jace's Phantasm in this as well! Good work :)

Pyschic Spiral would be great - I agree. I'll see if I can fit it in! Good suggestion for sure

I like what you have here honestly. It's a good base for a nice mill deck. A few things to look into though would be Mind Sculpt and Paranoid delusions. Both are heavy sorcery mill cards. I'm personally not a huge fan of spell rupture but if you like it by all means go for it. Grisly Spectacle is an AMAZING kill card for black as well because it makes the controller mill the power of the creature. I like the artful dodge though, one of my favorite combos. =) But yea, look into good cypher cards to put onto all your fliers. Each time a cypher is proced it recasts the spell which will activate your Consuming Aberration's ability.

I actually have a very similar deck made up that I've been trying to put the finishing touches on. Take a look if you're still looking for alternative ideas:

Thanks! I don't know how I overlooked Grisly Spectacle. It would fit really well here, right into the theme :)

I'll be sure to check our your digs as well

I also strongly suggest a card called Circu, Dimir Lobotomist. It's incredibly controlling and mills cards.

oh yea, he's one AMAZING card but the problem is that he's not legal in standard anymore unfortunately =/

Cards that I recommend for a standard mill deck:
Curse of the bloody tome
Increasing confusion
Mind Sculpt
Sage's Row Denizen (since you have a decent amount of blue in there)
Balustrade Spy
Wit's End (possibly, just felt like it was a good pair with Aetherize)
Sands of Delirium
Runechanter's Pike (Pair this with your Vampire Nighthawk, a deathtouch/first strike combo will kill anything that would threaten you)
and the upcoming Dragon's Maze Dimir guild champion Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker

Cards you should remove:
Spell Rupture (doesn't seem needed)
Artful Dodge (if the goal is to mill your opponent out direct damage shouldn't be a concern)
Think twice (much better cards for the purpose of drawing more cards)

Think twice gives a flashback though so you can play it again!

You're probably right about Spell Rupture - I just had it with consuming aberration in mind.. it does seem unneeded.
Artful Dodge I like for pairing it with c.a. or the nighthawks, and the cheapness and flashback as well - it's cheap and seems a better option than Rogue's Passage.
The recommendations for the mill are good - I'll have to see what is the right balance between milling and having an offensive plan B, you know.
Thanks!

Artful dodge is great with the consuming aberration. You only have to mill 20 cards and then you have a 20/20 that you can play or flashback artful dodge for 1 island to swing for the game. That way you have an alternative win condition outside of your primary deck goal. I always try to work in 1 or 2 ways to win along with an "oh shit, everything went wrong" strategy that way it's hard to catch the deck in a position where it can't function
