Deck Description

This deck was made as a challenge from Jessi. We both don't like tribal decks for various reasons. The challenge was to create a deck that mixes two creatures types that have synergies with each other. However, the creature types should NOT be the usual ones like goblins, elves and so on.

So I made a Druids and Snakes deck :)

There are two themes in this deck and the cards and synergies interlock:
1) Building up huge amounts of mana via Druids and create Snakes via Snake Basket.
2) Grow creatures with power 5 or greater to draw extra cards via Drumhunter.

The high qouta of 1-ofs is just my playstyle, also I found so many cards that fit in that I couldn't decide with which to go. If you ever build this deck, just cut the ones that don't work for you and up the ones that do.

This deck is for me and I own a playset of Revised duals, sue me. If budget is a concern for you, replace them with something else and you've got a deck that is about 30 dollars.

As always, I don't use sideboards since my decks are for casual multiplayer. Cards in the sideboard are cards I consider adding.

How to Play

There are many little details about this deck. Like the Hierophant that becomes hilarious after you popped the first Snake Basket. Yeah, you could achieve the same effect with a Gaea's Cradle, but this is more fun. Patron of Orochi is also wonderful in this, you can accelerate him via snake offering and his ability allows you to create more snakes.
For extra lols, read the flavour text of Snake Basket and look what the only other artifact of this deck is ...
I already love this deck, so thank you, Jessi, for challenging me :)

Deck discussion for Druid Basket

As always, you build some of the most well rounded decks on this site (especially considering there are only creatures and lands in this deck).

Flavor text with Snake Basket and Citanul Flute...nice.
Drawing power with Drumhunter is and all the mana producers make the deck well rounded.
You have artifact/enchantment hate for your opponent.

Very nice. I am liking the deck, only suggestions I might suggest would be something like adding Fog/life gain/life prevention.
Or maybe, since it is mentioned on your "How to Play" section...I might run 3 or 4 copies of Citanul Hierophants.

Good luck.

Yeah, besides livegain and prevention there are other things missing: Most notably creature removal (and I think this should be priotized over fog/prevention because there are so many creatures with nasty non-combat effects), but also graveyard-hate.
Adding this will most likely be out of theme (and I threw this deck together in less than an hour). It will take some time to find solutions in-theme, just wanted to give you the raw version early :)

I am considering bounce of some sort. It could be used as defence but also be used to reuse the Mystic Snakes and Oracles. Then again, then I enter the realm of "not that again", so maybe I won't :P

Stay tuned.

Truth in those words. It might be hard to stay in theme and have creature removal.

Snakeform is about it. It makes a kick ass creature with awesome abilities a 1/1 snake creature until the end of turn...but it doesn't remove the problem creature. Temporal Spring is some bounce.

I'd consider Snakeform if my big guys had trample but alas, they don't. Since I can't deal with flyers except for that single Nessian Asp, I am thinking about Hurricane as a (mass) creature removal measurement. Druids should be able to influence the weather and maybe summon a little storm, right?
Also, Druidic Satchel and Snake Umbra should be in this somewhere, but what to take out? As always, I place all candiadtes in the sideboard.

Hurricane works, since you do not have flyers...and have mana producers.

Would consider 3 or 4 copies of Llanowar Druids for mana ramp, if you are using Hurricane. Sacking Llanowar Druids pretty much doubles damage done by Hurricane, right?

I hate begging for help and posting my decks...but since we are now, maybe, talking about a Hurricane/mana ramp sort of deck...could you check this deck out? Give advice. You always give well rounded advice.

Extra advice...consider running Ichneumon Druid against decks heavy with sorceries/instants.

And for Druidic Satchel/Snake Umbra...since you have 36 creatures in your deck...i would start by taking them some of them out. Not sure which ones, though.
