Deck Description

Enduring Renewal decks usually pack Goblin Bombardement and zero mana creatures to deal infinite damage ("Pebbles" back in the day). That's exactly the thing I do NOT want to do. Combo isn't my thing - so when I build a Enduring Renewal deck, I do so for multiplayer and in a way that it doesn't result into boring games. I still included these 2 cards one time each, though. If it happens, it happens. Sometimes ugly games can be shortened.

So, what this deck does: It bases on Enduring Renewal, however, it is built to play more like a normal deck, the Renewal is just the kicker. Most importantly it is build so that you can play all your stuff right away, even if you don't have a Renewal in hand or in sight. Most of your creatures have a way to be sacrificed built in - when a Renewal finally hits play, you can do all sorts of things repeatedly. But with a few exceptions, nothing of this is infinite, which gives your opponents a chance and makes games more interesting. IF YOU THINK THAT IS STUPID, GO AWAY AND DON'T COMMENT!

How to Play

As I said, you can play your stuff right away. Don't be afraid to use their abilities, even if that means they die. Just don't attack and risk your creatures unecessarily and try to block conservingly - rather block in a way that both creatures survive than both die.

With Renewal in play, every creature you would draw is discarded instead. That's why there are creatures like Masked Admirer, recylcer like Hymn of Rebirth and most importantly searchers like Citanul Flute an Scroll Rack that bypass the restriction of Enduring Renewal. When tutoring, I only ever go for pieces of infinity (involving either Gobo Bombardment and Wild Cantor) if the game sucks or you would lose for sure if you didn't. That ensures that people will continue to play with you and against this deck. Rather go for Warstorm Surge, the result will probably be the same, but the damage comes in finite waves and the opponents have some time to react.

Some tricks and card choices:
* Peacekeeper is awesome in this and turned many games in my favour. If you want to attack yourself, just don't pay the upkeep - and with Renewal in play, you get him back to you hand and can replay him after you attacked. Nasty.

* Fertilid can give other players lands, too. Comes in handy in team games.

* Arcbound Ravager can sacrifice itself. It won't get bigger, obviously, but it has modular which means it will transfer it's counters, for example on a Mindless Automaton. With Renewal in play you can do that as many times as you spend 2 mana (or less if you also have Stone Calendars.

* Speaking of Stone Calendars, they are in the deck to reduce the casting cost of your critters because you will replay some of them many times per turn.

* Don't forget that Hymn of Rebirth can be used on opponent's graveyards as well.

Deck discussion for Enduring the Renewal

Your use of lands is always better than mine.
Besides that, my soul yells at me to ask you, "Why always so many cards with only 1 copy?" :)

There are many reasons for this.
1) For one, when you have searchers like Citanul Flute, Eladamri's Call, Sterling Grove etc. it's better to have a broader choice.
2) It's a question of your card pool. I have a broad collection but not many 4-ofs. And I'd rather use what I have than buy more.
3) It makes for more interesting games.
4) It keeps my opponents guessing. They might know my deck but they will never know the exact content. Especially if I tune my decks from time to time. Redundant decks are "mapped" pretty fast and the guys I play with are smart and have as much experience as I have.
5a) Finally - and this is maybe the most important - I just always find more cards that fit the deck than I have space. And I don't want to waste ideas.
5b) It's also a process of evolution: I start out with everything I can come up to, play, and then I will sort out those cards that didn't work out well and replace it with copies of stuff that worked well.

Speaking of 5b. I may be way off...and sound like a dumb ass...i picture a lot of your games like this:
A) You get all of your needed cards out, and win, and your friends are impressed as hell as to how you just won in the fashion that you did
B) You lose and state, "If i only would of had x, y, z cards out I could of won."

Maybe that isn't true at all...and I really do sound dumb. But it just feels like there are probably so many games that you may of lost because you were simply missing 1 or 2 key cards.

I admire the hell out of you for it. Not wanting (or seemingly to not want it) to win with the same old same old, Red Burn deck with 3 or 4 copies of every card.

I respect all of your reasons.

I guess I am trying to give reasons on why I am not more helpful with your decks.
You help me a crap ton. But with you..i look at your decks, and get overwhelmed. A lot of that is you being so experimental plus also running 1 copy of a lot of cards.

It is easier, again, a red burn deck, to suggest something like Fireblast after looking at the deck for less than 5 minutes.
With your decks, and not a bad thing, I almost need to sat down, with a notepad and a Magic Search Engine...and try to map out ideas to suggest cards :)

Excuse me trying to give out excuses.

And Number 2. You trying to use all of your cards that you already have. You are my hero for that. I can't even tell you how many cards I have (thousands) that I bought over 10 years ago...simply to be put in binders, never to be used. 15 year old cards that have never been used. It is sad.

Deck has been decommissioned for two reasons:
1) I needed some of the cards for other decks.
2) It never worked as intended. I wanted to have an Enduring Renewal deck that doesn't focus on endless combo loop, instead it should play like a normal deck that can play the Renewal right away when I draw it because most of my creatures have little combos with it. But alas, I either ran out of creatures with no Renewal in sight or the opponents had removal ready when needed or the game has progressed so much that endless-combo-win was the only chance.
