Deck Description

A flavorful deck I built as a ReConstructed submission. Nissa brings more land to the party, while Kiora calls on her faithful pets. Both have the same goal in mind, the destruction of the Eldrazi titans that threaten their shared home plane of Zendikar.

How to Play

The first few turns will be, of course, building your mana base as quickly as possible. Elvish Mystic, Embodiment of Spring, and Ainok Guide all help with this, and you'll want at least one of them in your opening hand. Nissa, Vastwood Seer, also nets you a new land card, albeit only in your hand, when she hits the battlefield. When you reach 7 lands, though, she ascends and can immediately get you one more, or another card in hand.
Kiora, the Crashing Wave can help stall the early board, especially when cast a turn or two early, giving you the time you need to ramp your mana base. Her -1 ability lets you draw another card, keeping your hand from emptying out, and gives you an extra land drop, which pairs nicely with Zendikar's Roil. After all, what's better than a 2/2 elemental? Two of them, of course.
If you need to Ainok Guide or Embodiment of Spring can bring you a Mountain to summon Zendikar Incarnate, who makes use of your massive array of lands by powering itself up for each one. In the meantime, Bident of Thassa's ability to force your opponent to attack pairs nicely with Kiora's +1 or Ætherspouts, the latter of which can clear your opponent's battlefield, giving you a chance to either build yourself up some more or swing through for a win. Or you could go the riskier way and Whelming Wave the board, typically leaving everyone dried up but for your Scourge of Fleets (another board sweeper tied to a big fat 6/6 fatty) and Kiora's 9/9 krakens.
One possible substitution that crossed my mind with this deck was to add in Pearl Lake Ancient. Another fatty that gets fatter when you cast one of your (admittedly few) noncreature spells, and can return three Islands to your hand for more hijinks with Zendikar's Roil.
