I havea Dimir Mill deck but its mostly Unblockable creatures like Latch Seeker, Invisible Stalker, and Tormented soul but then it uses Cipher cards like Paranoid Delusions to mill and Shadow Slice to turn that measly 1/1 onto a 1/1 that deals 4 damage anytime it attacks. Ou should check it out.

I just liked tormented soul because of its unblock status for a one drop. Slither head is good I agree but its kind out classed with Varolz.Maybe I drop the murders for either Mending Touch, or Giant Growth?

I made a few more edits, and i feel like this will make the deck much more aggressive and make it much faster given that the mana curve is a really 2 or 3 base since Deaths Shadow mostly will be going to the graveyard to be scavenged. I added Tormented Soul for a turn 1 option, and its presence puts immediate pressure on the opponent, especially in a Scavenge Deck. Any thoughts on the new setup?

I had totally spaced Putrefy. I added 2 and swapped out 1 Murder and 1 DD Imp. The best part of this deck is the look non their face when Varolz hits the field and they realize that Blastoderm and CJM are about to create me a very big, angry Dreg Mangler :)

A 5/5 trampling wurm token + 5 life per turn for under 5 mana is great in any deck...

Gridlock, Bkustersquall, and Haazda Snare Squad are also good picks to supplement Detain since even though Creatures will untap it can still clear the way for your ground assault and blustersquall can be overloaded to stop a big swing and open em up for some damage.

Well my biggest suggestion would be to trim your creatures and add more spells. In my detain deck I've found Inaction Injunction, Lyev Decree, Martial Law, Sudden Disappearance, Gridlock, and Blustersquall all are extremely helpful since you can tap creatures that would just chump block you, or detain more serious threats. If I'm not running artifacts, my usual spread is: 16 creatures/18 spells/24 land, or if I am using artifacts, 14 creatures/16 spells/4 artifacts/24 land. This makes the mana curve more gradual especially since W/U decks have no form of land acceleration or ramp. Creature wise you may want to try Banisher Priest, Archaeomancer, Haazda Snare Squad, and Fiendslayer Paladin. Also Cancel, Unsummon, and Negate may be worth a look. Control is a staple of U and it pairs well with the protection W is notorious for providing. Oh and Angelic Edict may be another option, although if you're detaining everything and their dog, that might be a moot point. Anyways, that's all I have for now, hope this helps :)

I would say that Izzet Guildmage would serve you better than Blistercoil Weird. Also Electrickery and Artful dodge arent really doing much, Izzet really rely on Spells for damage or passive creature abilites i.e. Guttersnipe. Yoi shouldnt really be attacking, more using Counter-and-Burn tactics. As far as card draw, Think Twice is a good one and it has Flashback, or Thought Scour also has a Mill 2/Draw 1 flavor. Divination is a Draw 3 but is a tad expensive (4 drop I think). For cheap drawing, and for Guildmage to be able to copy it, probably Thought Scour and Think Twice are your money banks. Also if you don't like Archaeomancer, you may want to try Mystic Recovery since its the same CMC and same effect, but its not a creature. Also it has Flashback so it can be used again later which does serve its own niche within Izzet decks. And i believe that Guildmage can copy a spell cast for Flashback since you're still casting the original Spell, not a copy. Anyway, that's my 2 bits.

Yeah I love Archaeomancer mid game just to recycle my really nasty dirt from my graveyard. Especially in Mill Decks. Ibhave an Izzet Mill deck I'm working on atm, and it really drives home when your manacist doesn't matter, you just need the guarantee of that spell that will an earlier big play, and possibly win the game. But his cost is a tad high. I can see why you might pass it by. At least try Izzet Guildmage. The ability to copy your spells is about as worthwhile as recycling them. And Guildmage is cheaper turn-for-turn and has a persistent effect like you said.

Why thank you! I rather liked the idea of playing a defensive control/mill game, but using the Izzet's perks to basically cause you to kill yourself when I counter you. The idea is that the opponent can either sit back and let me mill them to death, or try to fight back and have Guttersnipe rip em to shreds as it feeds them 2 damage every time I counter an action. But I see your point i'm just so used to running Gob Electros in every Izzet deck lol. Yeah Jace's phantasm and maybe Mindclaw Shaman as just a failsafe.

Cool. Oh and you could probably if you wanted to milk the Elecutors WinCon, you could maybe swap in 2 Safe Passage or a Riot Control in case Detain ever lets you down.

The main reason I went with WWR over Revive was because I use it mainly to cycle Arcaeomancer who is blue.
