Deck discussion for One drop EDH, yes really!

interesting. although you seem to have a bear problem, if you are going 1 mana. :)
This does look pretty neat though. :)

What does 1 Drop stands for ?

a 1 drop is a card whose converted mana cost is 1.

Just because they've worked well for me I'd suggest these two:
Weathered Wayfarer
Gavony Township
Non-basic land fetch is always handy, especially if it results in +1/+1 to all your creatures each turn.

Maybe Soul/Essence Wardens too; with all those tokens from Rhys they may well pack a punch in the health department.

Gavony township is a fantastic suggestion.

Why chained to the rocks? You have no mountains Lol other than that pretty cool

2

Yeah, I think that you can't actually use chain to the rocks here since you have no mountains to enchant.

Props! never seen this before, fast in commander can be deadly

Ardent Recruit is basically a 1/1 for 1 forever, as you only have 5 artifacts in your deck. I don't know what I would replace it with, but I love the deck and its use of charging badger and other funny commons you would never see in EDH!

Lacks card draw. With having so many 1 drops, you are going to run out of gas really fast. Try cards that ETB, there are a few enchantments that do that. Also, Noble Hierarch isn't legal in this deck build, and Chained to the Rocks is a dead card because it can not be cast unless you control a mountain.

Why don't you have Sol Ring or Sensei's Top? Both are one drops that help you here. Mother of Runes would also help you protect your troops from the harsh world of removal that oh so common in Commander.

I have updated the deck by taking out the dead cards chain to the rocks, Noble Hierarch, and Ardent Recruit. I add Dryad Arbor, Gavony Township, Mother of runes, Wolfbitten Captive, and Soul Warden.

Another little bit of help with card draw. I would add in Bandage, Barbed Sextant, Bequeathal, Capshen Standard, Chromatic Sphere, Chromatic Star, Conjurer's Bauble, and Sol Ring.

What I would personally remove is: Ephara's Radiance, Yoked Ox, Myr Moonvessel, Turn to Dust, Springleaf Drum, Battlegrowth, Mana Cylix, Lagonna-Band Trailblazer, Spiritual Visit.

Just a little tweaking because there is still a lack of 'gas' when dropping all these 1 drops. But I do love the deck idea!!

Rancor is crying out for abuse here. Same with Skullclamp lol

ulvenwald tracker is good here as well, along with mistcutter hydra and green sun's zenith

0

You can't use mistcutter hydra and green sun's zenith, because you need to pay at least two mana two use it.

0

green sun works within the 1 mana format as long as you only target creatures with a 0 mana cost. such as dryad arbor, which wouldn't be too bad in here I think. :) other than that... yeah.

Cut some lands... add more 1 drops. Go wild man! lol +1

No Dryad Militant !?
No Scute Mob!?

Instead you are running creatures like Martyr of the Sands which will be useless in a deck that empties it's hand so fast ...
... speaking of that, you don't need that much land in a deck with a mana curve that starts and ends at one but could definately need more creatures! At the very least you should include the cycling lands, man-lands and other utility in your land mix. Seriously, strongly consider:
Drifting Meadow
Secluded Steppe
Slippery Karst
Tranquil Thicket
Dust Bowl
Treetop Village
Forbidding Watchtower
Kjeldoran Outpost
Nantuko Monastery
Okina, Temple of Grandfathers
Pendelhaven
Stirring Wildwood
Yavimaya Hollow
Krosan Verge
Eiganjo Castle

BTW, Mikaeus the Luminarch is technically a one-drop ;)

True, but lunarch cannot be played for 1 mana. He dies on entry because of a zero toughness.

Other parts of the deck need work, too. As about everyone here tells you, your biggest problem will be running out of cards. Here are some cards helping you with that:

* Elvish Fury has buyback. Could replace Mutagenic Growth.
* Rancor! I mean, come on. Remove Lay of the Land for it which is pretty useless in this.
* Basilisk Collar instead of Spirit Link, it is reusable and adds death touch
* Infiltration Lens is a must in this deck to draw more critters! Replaces Terrarion which is also useless in this deck.
* Skull Clamp isn't banned in EDH, so play it! Replaces another useless card, Mana Cylix.

Other improvements:
* Since you don't need that extra mana, Oxidize is better than Turn to Dust
* Anoint will be better in the long run than Bandages
* Hunger of the Howlpack is strictly better than Battlegrowth
* Mutant's Prey is way too risky since you don't have many creatures with counters. Also, your creatures are small. You run neither Swords to Plowshares nor Path to Exile which are vastly suprior.
* Run Wild is strictly better than Mending Touch

I think Infiltration Lens would go a long long way in this deck. Just a thought. This deck looks like loads of fun.

Other possible suggestions, if these have already been mentioned i apologize for the repetition...

Exploration
Doomed Traveler
Launch the Fleet
Holy Day
Silence
Swords to Plowshares
Oran-Rief, the Vastwood
Sunpetal Grove
razorverge thicket
Terramorphic Expanse/Evolving Wilds

This is the best deck! I played it in my EDH group and it wins about 80-85% of the time.

That says a lot about the other decks in your EDH group ...

why not swap path to exile for swords to plowshares and add a grove of the guardian

Yoked ox, joint assault out. Sword to plowshares, laggona band trailblazer in

0

I had laggona band trailblazer in this deck but he became a paper weight. Plus I wanted yoked ox to feel good look at him he's all depress because he doesn't see play. :)

Lol OK. I was thinking the trailblazer wojhld be good with all your pump spells

0

After laggona became a 5/9 he became the target for removal and return spells and plus when I played this deck in my EDH group they all over look yoked ox until he was pumped and swinging.

There is still stuff like Mana Cylix and Springleaf Drum you could remove. You don't need them in this deck. Only two colours and only one-drops (so no WW or GG requirements). Remember that in Commander you have a special mulligan rule.

I'm pretty new! Looking for an awesome EDH deck idea. Quick question, in these EDH decks, how can you tell which creature is the commander?

0
Posted 16 December 2014 at 17:08

The commander of an EDH deck is always a legendary creature (or one of the five planeswalkers that were just printed specifically for the purpose of being commanders), generally in the decks on this site the commander is put into the sideboard to make it stand out from the rest of the deck, which is the case here.

0
Posted 16 December 2014 at 17:16

some people, at least on here, keep the commander card in their sideboard and only do 99 cards in the deck. so that people can tell. :)

just like this deck does. :)
