Deck Description

This is my dream Golgari graveyard deck. Now, I absolutely do not have the money to actually buy 4 Tarmogoyfs, 3 Liliana of the Veils, 4 Verdant Catacombs, or 4 Dark Confidants, so I thought I would use proxies for those instead, since this deck is just for casual play anyway. Because of the proxies, this deck won't actually cost $840, it'll be more like $280 brand new, which is significantly better. The sideboard is the alternative option if I wanted to add red and go Jund. I just wanted to hear your guys' thoughts on the deck and suggestions to make it better, all of which are welcome.

How to Play

It's pretty basic, old school Golgari. Work on getting Tarmogoyf out and get stuff in the graveyard through Inquisition and removal spells to beef your stuff up. Bag of Holding is there for a late game bomb to drop on the opponents if things start to slow down, a draw/discard engine, and an extra card type for the Goyf. Unearth is for getting you out of tight situations where you've got a Goyf in the graveyard or something along those lines and you need some protection.

Deck discussion for Golgari Proxy Dream (Casual)

Your deck would be slow for casual. Your turn 1 is either Thoughtseize/Inquisition or Deathrite Shaman. You will absolutely have to pull a fetch for Deathrite Shaman to work. Then turn 2 you do either Grisly Salvage or Glowspore Shaman. If you use Deathrite Shaman tap effect you will likely have no lands to return with Glowspore Shaman, this means it's basically mill 3 and you're done with the turn. Grisly Salvage mills 5 so you have more odds to put Hogaak into the graveyard, but without him there you're left with 1 mana for Thoughtseize/Inquisition or Necrogen Spellbomb. Reanimate helps here but you need Hogaak again.

I've been doing some editing, research, and playtesting, and I definitely agree with you. I realized that I had almost no one drop creatures, which can make all the difference. I'm just wondering what I should replace Deathrite Shaman with as far as one drops go. I was looking at Eye Collector, Archfiend's Vessel, Gnarlwood Dryad, Thieves' Guild Enforcer, and Serrated Scorpion as possibilities, what do you think?

Oh, and I was also wondering if Shambling Shell could have a spot in here for a little mid-late game power up. Thoughts?

Dark Confidant is great. You can swap out Tree of Tales with a Snow-Covered Forest and Vault of Whispers with Snow-Covered Swamps(Snow lands are different from basic lands and count as +1 towards Goyf). Also all your creatures cost less than 3 mana, so you can use Unearth instead of Reanimate. This is not only better but also makes your deck Modern legal.

Your deck as it is currently is very similar to Modern tier 1 Junk decks. You can look here for ideas: https://mtgtop8.com/event?e=24884&d=374142&f=MO

I once used shambling shell and thoughtpicker witch to control the opponents draw.
By using cheap aggro I could get the lock into play and stall while I killed them.
At the period I used that combo I was trying to defeat legacy with commoncards.

For some reason I seem to be the only one remembering how good the witch is at locking down someone.
I have a blackred version listed as my commonkill era but had versions of it in all other colors as well. Black green was also pretty durable, and used token generation as well as shambling shell.
The key was to discard them before putting the lock in place.
