Deck Description

WELCOME BACK TO HYPER BUDGET!
Decided to challenge myself; Build only decks that remain below $15, contain no rares, CMC 3 or below, no SB and could be used at a FNM with moderate success.

Here we have our first Hyper Budget Modern Deck; fairly simple in design this Unblockable Infect has potential completely damage you opponent to death or kill them with Infect.

How to Play

Drop your fast 1 and 2 drops and buff away, Invisible Stalker + Dark Favor + Phyresis is insane and very hard to deal with and wins games hard!

Deck discussion for Hyper Budget (Infect)

While I know there are far better Infect deck concepts, I finally had the chance to play my Invisible Stalker since he dropped back out of standard and couldn't resist the urge to run a U/B Infect! Please, suggestions are appreciated and welcome... Likes are well, liked... Good Luck Budgeteers!

I think that it is great that other people have been wanting to make hyper budgets. I especially enjoy yours though.

How about crumbling ashes for some control....

Crazy mana curve! Nice deck!

What about adding some infectious control like grim affliction or virulent wound? Also mark of the vampire should fit in...
Plus I would consider Phyrexian Crusader.

Phyrexian Crusader wouldn't qualify as hyperbudget...

but it would be great

What about Vampire's Bite? I think of it like the black Giant Growth...

Great, thats exactly what I was looking for, I wasn't feeling Spectral Flight but I could find anything else.

-2 Spectral Flight
+ 2 Vampire's Bite

I haven't got to play test it yet, but I will be building a lot of decks once I can get to my shop and get the cards I need; your's included!

And maybe a few kill spells on sideboard if you run into a kiln fiend deck..lol , i am looking for a good blocker , cause all i have is fog s and some instant land making blockers. Even cudge troll could would work that has regenerate. Thallid Shell-Dweller these are okay but easily killed

Maybe Inkfathom Infiltrator?
You could also probably afford to cut down to twenty lands since you aren't running anything more then CMC 2.

I would like to see a standard version of this. Sway have you considered building secondary decks for these... "Moderate Budget Standard Decks" The legal versions of the decks.

There is no way to give a creature infect in the current standard (RTR/Theros/M14).

...Infect isn't standard.

I would go -1 dark favor / +1 Vampire's Bite. It enables you to infect on turn two more consistently.

T1: swamp Tormented Soul / Vector Asp
T2: land, Tainted Strike / Asp Activation + Vampire's Bite

... and they're at 4 or 5 poison

I dropped all non-infects for straight up Infect creatures, added in Aqueous Form from Theros to let me filter deck better to find the things I need to win.

I'd swap your Vector Asp for Mutagenic Growth.
While Vector Asp is a good little card, it is impractical, since you have to reactivate it's ability each turn
Mutagenic is one of the BEST buff spells in existance, and people almost always pay the 2 life to cast it

Also, chuck in some Dimir Guildgates for dual lands

I agree, and this is the first time I have seen Mutagenic Growth, it went in immeadiatly. Thank you for that!
(just started playing again in RtR, stopped playing way back in 6th edition.. missed alot)

Vector Asp? I know its for the cheapness, but come on you can do better. Ichorclaw Myr and Necropede are infinitely better options, as they have permanent infect.

I would suggest Livewire Lash, but its rare. However, its probably cheaper than invisible stalker (Bant hexproof is a thing).

I would dump all the non-infect things tainted strike and phyresis for other infect things. Having a tormented soul and no way to give it infect sucks. Cheap equipment would be better and more permanent, like bone saw or bonesplitter, are better to drop on turn 1 for a terrifying thing turn 3.

Yea testing I really hated to waste mana to GIVE infect, I also felt I was stretched to thin with Stalker and Soul while waiting to give infect or I ended up with dead cards in my hand. Made some changes, I may still go with the equipment for that more permanent option but for now I am going to try the Auras. Thanks for the help, new to the Modern sets and what they bring to the table.

i hate to hate, but arent there better options for infect decks (even when hyper budget) that are green? giant growth and glistener elf in particular. just saying that you could easily drop blue and throw in some black removal so you could still swing unblocked while running green black.

True. I play a lot of G/B infect. That cheapass and powerful ramp annihilates most decks

Hero's Reunion is MUCH better than Angel's Mercy. I've once seen someone make the angel look like Jesus with some permanent marker before.

Not only is it a rare; rule violation 1
It is 4 mana: rule violation 2
It is more of an SB card for this deck: rule violation 3
It don't help in FNM, trust me: rule violation 4

Sorry, but Hand of the Praetors is banned from this deck by all of the rulings there are

Revenge of the Hunted for the win.

I would add some Vines of Vastwood instead of Mutagenic Growth. protects your creatures and makes them twice as big.

0
Posted 22 November 2013 at 09:50

But you can't turn two somebody with Vines.

0
Posted 24 November 2013 at 01:16

You can.
Turn 1: Glistener Elf
Turn 2: Vines of Vastwood, 3 Mutagenic Growth and that's 11 poison counters

Drew a sample hand and played blighted agent turn 2, dark favor turn 3, and vampire's bite turn 4. assuming no removal or damage prevention (etc) is played, that's a turn 4 win in a $10 deck. you got my like.

Why not add corrupt resolve, its on the budget side and it works pretty well for when the game goes on a little longer then turn 4

I will look into that, I don't know what I would cut out though. I don't want to take away to much from the speed of the deck.
