Deck Description

WELCOME BACK TO HYPER BUDGET!
Decided to challenge myself; Build only decks that remain below $15, contain no rares, CMC 3 or below, no SB and could be used at a FNM with moderate success.

I bent the rules on this deck as WToC doesn't want land destruction to be a thing; challenge accepted! This is a variant of a deck I ran about 5 months ago when I still had access to Craterize and Rite of Ruin(a surprisingly fun card to play). It worked fairly well and I thought would get the team back together for Hyper Budget!

How to Play

The idea is to ramp into the various Land Destruction spells available and let you Skargg Guildmage turn your land into 4/4's for the win. Your looking for at least 1 Mystic, Hedonist, Zhur-Taa (in that order) 2/3 lands and some destruction. If this goes without a hitch you can really disrupt your opponent, especially they miss a land drop.

***DISCLAIMER***
You may experience a feeling of extreme doucebaggery by winning with this deck.

Notable Mentions
- Peak Eruption (Narrow destruction but AMAZING when needed, this hits shocklands too)
-Feral Animist (Good mana sink but I feel guildmage is better)
-Burning-Tree Emissary (Pseudo ramp but also adds a 2/2 on the board)

I just tried this in a tournament and while it was god against control, it fell a little short against mid and completely failed against more aggressive decks.

What about Flame Slash from Rise of the Eldrazi ? Only 1 mana for 4 damage. Or now you can add Rugged Highlands (Khans) vs. Gruul.

Hell yes. I also love budget decks that are fun to play AND in Standard.

I'll probably build this and play around with it. Personally, I'll most likely add two Encroaching Wastes for some extra fun.

Well done, sir.

OH WOW, I completely forgot about Encroaching Wastes! I will need to think on where to fit it in, any suggestions would be great maybe the Lightning Strikes or Guild Gates(I really hate the ETB Tapped).

oh, right, I didn't realize it was standard until I posted the comment. I love your Hyper budget deck by the way! Good work!

Does Burning-Tree Emissary break your budget at $2.50 each?
P.s. Great decks, but are they all restricted to standard? If not, I'd like to see an Infect Hyper Budget!

Infect is not currently standard legal, but I have been going through older sets putting together Modern/Legacy decks as well so keep on the look out for those. I want to get through all the guild colors then I will start posting them.
As for the BTEmissary I wanted to put him in but I opted for more reliable ramp, plus the $2.50 is kind of pricey but this is a guide so feel free to change it up to your play-style (I added a few cards that I thought about but didn't make the cut when I built the deck)
If you want to go away from the budget portion of it you would want to add Shocklands and Scrylands, also you have Emberswallower who not only big on his own but 3 lands is a lot if you ramp into his monstrous.

I understand it not being standard. It works much better in modern, even during Scars of Mirridon!

I made a hyper budget infect deck, not standard, but super fun. http://www.mtgvault.com/13joker/decks/6-infect-deck/

My friend's infect deck came out to like, 10-14 dollars. It worked good too.

Did he have Dual Lands?
If not, then that's understandable. Infect is one of the most effective and cheapest forms of magic out there. Until you get to the lands.....

Nah. It was just Basics.

What colours?
You should see if he can get some dual lands, or at least Guildgates

B/G, He took it apart a while ago. It worked really good though. He was a super competitive player.

Shame......
Infect is a wonderful way to play, but many players don't like it because of the possibility of a turn 2 win
I mean, legacy and vintage you just expect it. But not in modern

love this deck by the way. may add a few cards to bump up to $20 limit. Only card im not a fan of is survey the wreckage.

I'm not either but I wanted to ensure I was getting some destruction, the deck ran really well when I had Craterize available. I may build a Modern version of the deck in the morning and see what I can brew together.

The idea is fine, but you'll be ran over by the enemy... ...& against control, you won't have enough creatures to finish the game... ...but if you draw in the right order, it could be effective...

I think, with a little fewer land destruction & some potential finishers, this deck could become competative... ...some stormbreath dragon, may be polukranos, since you have good ramp here...

Yea that was the problem I ran into when played LD the first time but that is the fine line you walk to run this deck, you could drop the Survey the Wreckage for some Mizzium Mortars as you generally have enough ramp to overload it.

I personally think that adding Peak Eruption and dropping Survey the Wreckage would be a good trade off. Destroy a land and deal 3 for 3 mana.

0

But the land would have to be a mountain. If it's not, it's a dead card. Definitely fit for sidebaord, though.
