Deck Description

Complete control with a red deck? Yes indeed. I wanted to test addition variables onto Skred an already semi-established modern deck. These variables include Ensnaring Bridge, Braid of Fire (Which will be explained), and Chalice of the Void (or another control component TBD taking recommendations)

How to Play

There are multiple ways to win, but to start, you want to focus on maintaining control of board state. We have plenty of burn spells to do so, Ensnaring Bridge is our mainboard tech against most decks, it can even stop a control deck's Snapcaster so don't count it out against those matchups.

After the ton of creature removal, Ignorant Bliss is our hand disruption tech that also serves as a fog with Ensnaring Bridge on the board. Dangerous Wager is for when our hand is clogged and we can't get rid of it fast enough- or if our hand is empty we can draw 3. The emptier the hand the better for the sake of Ensnaring Bridge. Blood Moon is the classic lockdown card- most of the time it's gonna be great.

Winning the game: There are several ways.
1. Braid of Fire
You might be wondering why Braid is even in the deck, well, most of our removal is instants meaning we will have a separate pool of mana for our instants and another for our artifacts, enchantments or sorceries. Something unique about this that you can't get from normal Skred, is our control/win card: Comet Storm. Dumping all of the mana we get from controlling the board into Comet Storm can effectively win the game or wipe their side of the board. Braid of Fire makes it all the more difficult for most decks to deal with.

2. Boros Reckoner
The classic (Aside from stuffy doll) win con of Skred, Boros Reckoner, is one of the best "mono-red" creatures that can control the board. Essentially being a deflector of damage, Skred-ing the Reckoner after a good amount of snow lands to deal direct damage to the opponent can win the game.

3. Combination of burn and beats
We run some burn cards in general (Fallout, Bolt, Storm) and combined with Reckoner, the repetitive aggro our deck can provide can be enough to kill an opponent who already damage themselves with fetches.

Deck discussion for Braid of Destruction

You could toss in Manabarbs because a large chunk of your mana is based around Braid of Fire or using Simian, so you would take less damage then the other player. Also another great creature with Boros ability is Spitemare, incase needing an additional backup.

Mana Barbs is intriguing but it is in fact 4 mana which is kinda slow :(, another Boros Reckoner is considerable but I would need to have 4 Reckoner to begin with.

Love Braid of Fire!! I'm the only one in my magic group that plays it, so when I see other players use it in decks like this one it makes me smile.
