One of my friend's once asked me, "what is/are the best colors for creature and field removal?". A different friend replied, black, while my third friend replied black green, because of abrupt decay. It took me a while but, when I finally learned how powerfull abrupt decay is, I just started laughing for 3 minutes. Then I thought, "Wouldn't it be evil if someone built an abrupt decay deck, in which, almost at will you can destroy nonland permanents?"Later that day, after scouring the realm of Golgari (green black) I stumbled upon Maelstrom pulse and swore so loud my mom heard it in the garage. It is a screamingly awesome effect. Pack rat, BYE BYE. Elspeth or Jace giving you trouble? BYE BYE. Any nonland non indestructible permanent? BYE BYE. The idea that drove this deck was, kill, kill, kill. Then I stumbled on Tarmogoyf and Lord of Extinction. 'So you mean I can not only clear my opponent's field, but I can also send out these massive creatures that will only get stronger as I kill more and more? SWEET'Once I descovered the lowest price of the deck based on each card being in near mint condition, and not foiled, i slumped over in my seat. That was the day I realized two important things, One, black/green is one of the best removal decks, and two, I need a job!!
Very simple, clear your opponent's field of pesky creatures, possible planeswalker's and any other nonland permanents, then attack with your creatures that are really bulky because they got boosted from all of the destroyed creatures. YAY!!
