Very akin to what I would love to play, though I prefer pox so after I get a full orzhov build I'll begin moving towards a version of this.
Though, I never figured out whether skred red or pure oppression builds are better in modern...

Well, it may be a rough draft but he is at least as obsessed with mono red oppression control in modern as I am with pox, just check out his decks, he has so many versions of this in so many color pairs

Gotta love that mentor, I would actually like to see him in action, especially against the decks that have more to be punished for than just fetches

Seeing this without Life from the loam is something new, perhaps worse but interesting nonetheless

Well now, I have few things to say; first, check out the deck now, this was built a long time ago when I had very little knowledge of modern with the idea being immunity towards removal.

Fatal push was not around back then and is just not that good with no fetches, though there are metagames, and not just a few of them, that would still support it very well.

The problem is the color pair, it wants to run Lili, Snap, Cryptic Command, Creeping Tar pit, it simply cannot be made on a budget, instead check these out as this one is dead and gone;

And thanks for the feedback, while the deck is past saving, it is still very nice to find someone who takes the time to improve them.

Nothing anymore, you just had 5 or 6 of some cards where the game only allows for 4

Man, as long as you get a modern tournament once a month be happy about it. I am from Slovakia and unless you live in the capital you might as well give up on most, if not all, non standard formats. But I am trying to push modern and pauper, with the surrounding cities having a big highlander population.

Well the death's shadow decks seem quite manageable, our deck packs a lot more value, especially in the form of removal. And tron will find it hard should we hit a smallpox, that is a big "if" though, you are very much right about tron.

Gifted Aetherborn is on the "playtest me" list, you are very correct to point out it's advantages, yet it does die to out 6 "pox" copies and leaves nothing behind. I shall test him for sure though.

Made me giggle :D Great comment. I wish there were people willing to play modern more often than twice or thrice a year at my lgs, or town rather. But this is by no means a deck that I would go for.

Hmm, are the odd, yet logical, numbers of specific cards a result of perpetual refinement or is the deck just being tested?
Cause Dungeon Geists for example seems rather unconventional, so does just 3x Spell Queller.

I gotta say I like the deck a lot, especially the Spirit of the Labyrinth idea.

Hmm, well as far as those matchups are concerned there are a few factors to mention:
1. Is it? I mean, is the meta grindy? The goldfish doesn't really say so and I am planning this for IRL play with my meta being a lot more creature focused with fish, eldrazi tron, coco, infect and such.

2. The deck packs a lot of value cards and 2for1s which should make up for battling more grindy decks, although beating walkers shall forever remain a nightmare, for this reason it would be wise to go 3-4 Urborg and 4 Mutavault.

3. I suppose I shall adjust the sideboard to that, thank you for the input, although different cards would be ones I'd play to make up for these matchups, simply drawing isn't that good, especially for this deck, I'd rather just play more necrogen mists.

thank you very much, it is one of my way older casual-budget and often themed decks. Now that I look at it, memnite has no place in the deck, any ideas for replacements?

Well, shit happens, though it is usually caused by something like the new Rolling Thunder being uncommon and people not being familiar, here they are visibly common.

I'd honestly play 18 lands at most with that... curve

Yep, my exact thoughts, if the rock is to be the build it would want scoozes, goyfs, maelstrom pulse. And not just 8 cards, as good as they may be.
Especially when Twilight Mire makes running Phyrexian Obliterator easy
