Deck Description

I think I might have a fever, all I make these days are ld and control decks, any idea why?
NOTE :here is a squee-less version:
http://www.mtgvault.com/theswarmer/decks/budget-modern-black-pox-2/

Shit worth taking about:
Smallpox+Rain of Tears+Death Cloud: These are just good, in fact, amazing, they can win you a game with ease, pox being a 3 for 1, Rain of Tears inducing a... Rain of Tears and Death Cloud sealing he deal.

Raven's Crime+Dakmor Salvage: This makes up the discard part of the deck, once they see you have both these cards they will think twice about every move they make, if they don't......well they die, no cards=no winning.

Haakon, Stromgald Scourge+Nameless Inversion: You get these 2 out with 4 or more lands and no creatures without hexproof or shroud will be a problem.

Zombie Infestation+Squee, Goblin Nabob: Blocks and attacks, as many as you want, this will often stabilize you vs aggro and win the game vs anything slow.
The infestation is amazng with Haakon, Dark Withering and Gravecrawler and squee is an MVP of the deck, right next to pox.

How to Play

You use all of your resources to get rid of all of their resources while getting incremental advantages throughout the game, once you resolve a death cloud or get one of the combos I mentioned in the DD section you win.
Any "fair" deck is a good matchup, anything that likes its lands, hand or time is a good matchup and with the right s cards most any deck is a good matchup.

My budget decks are supposed to let you have fun! Which is what i think MtG should be about, i try to make these decks as competitive as possible while still letting you to have a blast while playing them. I DON'T and WON'T make them cheaper as that would make them absolute shit, these decks are REAL budget decks in that they are cheap decks that can be played in their respective formats to at least some success. Also don't just copy the whole deck(you can, but if you can improve something DO IT!), if you have a better idea pls let me know, i can't always make the perfect deck and sideboard. Again GL and HF!

Deck discussion for Budget Modern Black Pox

The Nameless Inversion + Haakon thingy is SICK! Okay, the entire "Tribal Instant" nonsense is stupid to begin with and even more so with changeling ... did you come up with this yourself? If so, mad props!

I don't have much to add except this: I don't think Tendrils of Corruption does much in this deck since you won't have that much Swamps to go with (just 19 in the deck and you constantly kill them yourself). I would like to see Spinning Darkness in here but unfortnately it's not Modern legal. The Rack, however, is. Wouldn't hurt to have some diversified damage sources that can't die to Pox. Or Necroplasm - the deck could use a fifth card with dredge and Necroplasm is an answer to many creatures you can't kill with the Inversion (hexproofers/shroud but also protection from black)

I wish I had come up with that combo myslef! I think I watched a gameplay vid where the pox player was playing both these cards, so I chcecked the list, chceked the cards and fell in love with the combo.

The tendrills were just a quick filler I threw in there.

I built a second version:
http://www.mtgvault.com/theswarmer/decks/budget-modern-black-pox-2/
I'll build both and see how they fare. This one I think will be more consistant, it has no Squee, and Squee as good as he may be can produce some really dead draws.
Though the infestation combo will be missed as it can produce blockers until you find that Haakon combo or death cloud or whatever.

I saw the other list but commented here precisely because it has Squee in it :)
I don't like singleminded decks that either win fast or fold when their main trick fails.

Another possible filler card for decks like this: Raven's Crime. Once you have a Darkmoor Salvage, you use this every turn to stall both of you. Of course that requires you to be in the lead (board position).

23 lands sound way too low for clouds. Would find ways to splash red on it, bloodstained mire, blood crypt, and all other BR lands (they are the cheapest) and include faithless looting.

Gravecrawler looks hightly unnecessary as it play a different role more oriented to aggro.
Would consider other budget monoblack options (tons like Mutilate, Nighthawk, non-Vess Liliana's, many others)

Oh, yes, I always forget: Gravecrawlers can't block!

In your V2 you could Squee and Zombie Infestation. Bad experiences with that combo?
