Deck Description

Hydras, Kracken, and Rubblehulk... oh my! Prophet and Domri work together to allow you to dump a lot of fatties on the field. For example, flash in a Kalonian during your opponents turn and then cast a hasted Mistcutter on your turn and swing with both.

Rubblehulk is in because his bloodrush ability makes him a lot more versatile. Ghor-Klan Rampagers would be better for winning, but they are just babies compared to the monsters in this deck. Kiora can also help you play more lands to pump up the Rubblehulk if you are so inclined.

Another nice thing about blue is Kiora's Follower, which is more versatile than the Voyaging Satyr.

Deck discussion for Oh F*ck Monsters

The tag for that color combination is RUG. Also, consider lowering the amount of Domris in the deck because of the Legends Rule that basically renders excess copies as dead draws. Personally, I prefer two copies of legendary cards but if they're that essential to the deck, keep them.

Thanks for the heads up on the tag. I had tried Ceta but didn't think to try RUG. Domri is pretty essential because he gives you tons of draw, so you want him on the board as much as possible, especially considering that half the deck is creatures. Plus, people are going to be quick to exile or destroy him if they can. Also, you can use his -2 ability for a couple turns if you need to and then recast a fresh one.

Most of the Gruul/Jund Monsters decks I have seen run 4 Domri's and 4 Polukranos, even though they are both legendary. I was hesitant at first, but I think it is definitely worth it for Domri.

Also, Domri soaks removal a lot, so you will need replacements.

While I do like this idea, it's plain ludicrous that this will ever come to fruition, this deck, while insane, is just too damn expensive

I actually have all the cards necessary for this deck, which I mostly obtained by cracking packs and trading a bunch of my old cards (found a mint Wasteland and some other fun Tempest cards in my old shoe box). I have a more competitive version that I am actually planning to make, http://www.mtgvault.com/traslin/decks/hydra-raid/ that is a little less expensive, but I threw this version together for fun.

You traded away a wasteland. Tsk tsk. Also Xenagod is better for this deck than Xenawalker.

I don't ever plan to play Legacy and Domri is freaking expensive, so I didn't feel too bad about parting with the Wasteland :). I'm finding it impossible to part with my Force of Wills though. I bought them for like $30 a piece about 15 years ago, which was a lot for a college student. I'll probably be buried with them...

I kind of like Xenawalker because of the X creatures (Mistcutter & Savageborn), and I want them to come out BIG. I also find the Xenagod to be a little redundant with the Prophet, since she allows you to flash things in at their end of their turn to simulate haste.

Xenagod would make for some big pump though ;). I could put him in for the Scavenging maybe, but then I think there would be too many Gods/PW in the deck since I'm already pushing the limit on those.

I would never trade legacy cards for standard. Especially this meta of standard, it's garbage right now. I sold all my standard just to get rid of all this trash.

Trash? It really depends on what you're into. If you like Standard and play standard and will never play legacy, then the old cards he had were worthless to him and so he traded them in for some good standard cards.
If you're into legacy and would never play standard, then yes, standard cards are for the most part useless to you and you trade them away for the cards you need.

Standard is trash right now. I've played nothing but standard, but right now the meta is crap. There are only 3-4 decks that you can play competitively. If standard gets interesting again I will return.

Can I recommend Vorel of The Hull Clade just to make those hydras bigger a lot quicker? Solid deck though. +1.

First; I like Vorel, he's a solid hydra deck choice, I like simic and I like doubling things.
Second; The problem with Vorel is he is a three cost when you should be dropping a domri at that point and his two cost is a good pump, but that's two mana you could just as easily spend on Kiora's Follower or Sylvan, or Mystic, or any of the hydras. If he dropped red I would say yes, but as it stands there are much better things for him to do with the mana.

I do agree with Couch312 on Vorel.

cool deck the only issue i can see is your never really going to get the devotion to blue you need for thassa. so unless your playing her for just the scry she is not that important.

I for one love it. Red/Green monsters is in the meta right now and I'm glad to see someone with a brew of their own. That and PolyK is in there.

R/G Monsters: My god, this deck is good.

R/G/U Monsters: HEELLLLOOOOOOOO!!!

Very nice deck with the whole combos with Domri and Prophet. Not exactly sure why there's a lot of 2 of's in the deck but still very nice. Maybe 1 or 2 more Kiora's Follower in here just because it's a really nice card.

Lol, deck costs $500! (I'll stick with budget decks) Neat concept however; it looks great.

I replaced Thassa with Xenagod and another Rubblehulk. In my testing of a similar RUG deck, Thassa wasn't all that helpful. Xenagod fits better with the monster theme anyway. I'm also debating whether to replace Xenagos Reveler with more Kiora.

Don't do that, your PW mix is good right now, don't give up Kraken Emblems for big hydras, Krakens make your opponents want to cry when they finally kill one, and have another one enter the field next turn while you're laughing maniacally screaming ' RELEASE THE KRAKEN!'
