Deck Description

Well, if you guys know a lot about MTG you know that Legacy Dredge is one of the best decks out there. I thought: What if Legacy dredge could be converted into modern? People have tried it before, and come up with a deck called DredgeVine, but I think that deck could be improved. So, I set off using almost 5 years of deck building experience to come up with the closest possible thing to it as I could. I think I am almost there. There are some minor issues here, but you see the idea of this deck. Imagine a turn 3 Demigod of Revenge with 3 in your grave. 20 damage out of nowhere turn 3. They won't see it coming, especially because this is a rogue deck. That is my hope with this deck.
Now, obviously, I can't do that as the deck stands now, but I need a way to do that, consistently. If you know of a card that has flashback or something that searches for a sorcery, that would work. Another thing is a 2-3 mana cost search sorcery. There are cards that return creatures from the grave to play, so the problem then is getting one into the hand that you are not going to have.
The ghoultree in the sideboard is a last resort option if I cannot figure out how to get this to work.
Again, if you have any suggestion, I would be glad to hear them!

Ok. Point of clarification....
You are looking for a 3ish cmc card that will put a creature (demigod of revenge, specifically) in hand?
Or are you looking for a way to root them all out of library and into graveyard? (ala Buried Alive, but for modern)
It should be noted that the Demigod of Revenge must be hard cast (not cheated in or returned from graveyard) to activate its ability.
I'm almost 100% on that. Seems like there was a rules debate regarding that in my playgroup once.....

Or are you looking for a way to increase your dredge?

Regardless, here are a couple early thoughts...
Bloodsoaked Champion- cheap recursion.
Life from the Loam- Absolutely feeds the dredge in every way. Its cheap and gives you land aplenty.
Golgari Grave Troll- Massive Dredge 6 and gets beefy with a stocked graveyard
Flayer of the Hatebound- undying on its own, but even better it combos beautifully with your DoR idea.
Griselbrand- fat daddy baddy
Crypt of Agadeem- big graveyard= lots of mana
Avatar of Discord- the discard drawback doesn't hurt. Gets the bridge into the graveyard.

Breaking//Entering
Rise from the Grave
Champion of Stray Souls
Endless Obedience *** This is especially good in conjunction with the zombie tokens generated by the bridge.
Grim Return- This may be the best of the lot. Dredge a biggie and bring it into play for 3 cmc

Some enchantment/artifact destruction (at least in the sideboard) to counter the various graveyard exilers.

Hope this helps! I like the idea! keep me posted!

Im looking for a way to get creatures out of my grave onto the battlefield with paying a cmc of 3 or less. I would prefer that this card or combo. Thanks for your help, I will continue updating this and improving this. My hope is to be able to go 3-1 in fnm with it.

Ya, dethrite is banned, thank god. I personaly think that golgari grave troll could be unbanned though. Its not to format breaking. If anyththing it would open up new metagame decks, like this one.

I think I am gonig to put in endless obeadience, and I will fix the mana base, and release the deck. I should have 4-5 creatures on the felid becasuse of bridge from below, so I can cast it for 2-3 hopefully.

Well guys, im a sad panda. Unfortunatly, the rules have changed to that demigod of the revenge might as well say "When you cast" not, "when you play" when you play hints as when it enters the battlefield. But nope. So, I could really use a seggustion as to what to put in in place of it, or just keep it in there. I have ways to return one to my hand, so thats not much of a problem.

My girlfriend loves pandas. I find it interesting that there are so many black and white creatures in nature that blatantly blend with nothing. Zebras, Penguins, Orcas, Pandas, Siberian Tigers, Buzz and Spike (my cats growing up).
Bizarre.
But I digress.

My initial thought is to keep it as is.
Hopefully your Grisly Salvage puts one in hand and dredge puts others in graveyard. Hard cast it turn 5.

Then I start thinking outside the box a little.
Haakon, Stromgald Scourge + Ashes of the Fallen (choose Knight) = all creatures can be cast from graveyard.
Sprinkle in some Nameless Inversion and/or Crib Swap to kill opponent's army.

This still means hard casting it for 5, but it means that your DoR's will keep recycling and consistently be on your opponent like Alien facehuggers on hapless support characters.

You are right though. Back to the drawing board. Not to worry my friend. Plenty of Ugly Bettys out there to dig from the grave.

Um. Is it just me or did that last bit sound a little off?

Hope this helps.

Well, it may not be totally back to the drawing board. If mana is our concern, what if I put the tron lands in there. I would probably get it turn 4-5 consistently with life from the loam. I could then cast different things. To bad green suns is banned.... basically all I need is a consistent way to get DoR out turn 4. I need one mana ramp. It needs to come from the grave. I have no idea where to get this from. Imagine every game, DoR turn 4, and he can only be countered after his ability is resolved, otherwise he goes into play right as he hits the grave. So basically you have to choose between the lesser of 2 evils. I am so close with this one, and I refuse to give up. I new this wasn't going to be easy, but I didn't think it was going to be this hard either. If you can think of a way to get 1 extra mana for 1 turn, that fixes the deck. It should work then.
I will look around, then playtest the deck, digitally, tonight and let you know how this works out.

Rep +1 for your stalwart defense of your idea even in the face of adversity!

What permanents will you have in play? Crypt of Agadeem? Thats my best shot. Actually maybe you should run 4 of them.

Well, usually I get 2-3 bridges in my grave, and either a bloodghast, or a gravecrawler, so often times I have upward of 4-5 creatures on the board by turn 4. I think I am going to go away from the DoR's, I might try it with the Crypt, and I will tell you how it goes, and put in Elesh Norn, and use my guys to kill the opponent. Tell me what you think

Have you considered Hellcarver Demon? It goes with the theme of this deck, is a monster and could let you cheat in some huge baddies. Life from the Loam would help mitigate land loss.

I need your guys opinion on something:
I have been playing Tron for 2 years, and I am sick or it being inconsistant. That and it is not being really fun to play anymore. I was thinking maybe I should sell Tron and get Twin, modern Twin of course. Let me know what you guys thing. Im on a tight budget, so I don't have really any spare monney. Thanks a ton!

Well, I have favorites and will play them and then set them aside for awhile. Picking them up again to play is a happy reunion, especially as new cards come out that smooth rough spots. I've also dismantled/sold decks that I then get a hankerin' for and regret it.

Both tron and twin are popular, both can be fun. For me, the lion's share of the joy is in the construction and tweaking, so I'd encourage you to try something new.

Having said that, if you have the option at all to make the new AND keep the old, one is silver and the other is gold.

Ya, I totally know what you mean. I was actually looking around at other decks and found Living End, and when I played it online, it seemed like it would be a really, good, cool, and fun deck to play. So now I think since I am having more fun playing both twin and Living End then Tron, I just need to decide between the two. Thoughts?

Living end sucks!!! #affinityforthewin #loveyouvangaurd

You're living end deck is funny and it sounds like you had more fun with living end when we played together????????????????????????????????????

Hmm... Both essentially hinge on one card. Both can be fun.
Maybe price it out? Given your current collection, which would cost less to create?

Living End only costs around 340, while twin costs like 600. So Living End is looking pretty good, and really fun to play.

Both seem pricey to me, but Living End appears markedly cheaper.
Sounds like you have a winner!
Go for it! Carpe Diem! Excelsior! Have at it!
and of course, post it :)

Well, its not great, ya, you do get a 6/6 flier, and possibly other stuff, but it's getting on the battlefield thats the problem. I will keep trying to figure this out. Vengevine may be the best way to go after all....

Vengevine is a 4 of beast. Its like a green cousin of DoR. Only trouble is casting 2 creatures to trigger it. Gravecrawler works nicely for this. It would be nice to have another creature to bring in on the cheap.
Maybe Big Game Hunter? Madness would work well, I think
Gorgon Recluse, Grave Scrabbler could work too.
