So I recently took to the idea of G/B dredge in standard and went down to my local FNM to test it out, I went 1-3 which was not a great record but it was more a fact finding mission for my sideboard. I found the deck struggled with mono blue devotion, anything with flying and aggro decks. I also found that chump blockers were stopping me from dealing damage quick enough and so the following changes ensued.I cut herald of Torment from my main deck. In its place came Nylea and Whip of Erebos. These two cards will allow for damage to get through via trample and also help maintain my life total against the aggro decks. This was my only change to my main board.For my Sideboard I added Bile Blight and Golgari charm, these two cards will allow me to deal with master of the waves, any annoying enchantments and any pack rats that can crop up. This will help me maintain board control and allow my big hitters to deal their required damage.I found Desecration Demon and anything with Gift of Orzohva a real pain and so I added the cute little common, deathtouching Deadly recluse. This will stop those flyers in their tracks and fill both graveyards for my Nighthowler. I kept Herald in the sideboard as it will help against control decks for when they attempt a board sweep (these are far and few between in my meta).So come next FNM I am looking for a better performance as I love piloting this deck.
Start filling that graveyard as quickly as possible. In theory a Nemesis of mortals should be coming down turn 4-5 and Nighthowler can be bestowed onto a Satyr Wayfinder once his job is done. Nylea will allow damage to get through which will help with your life total with the whip out.Deathrites and Elvish mystics provide the ramp, the Deathrites will be using any land that get accidentally chucked in my graveyard . Whip can be used to bring back a Nighthowler for a final big swing.Sideboard is already explained in the deck description.C&C always welcome :)
