Awesome Advice. I will take a lot of it into consideration. I deck currently runs mid-ranged and usually wins via an overrun type situation, just as you mentioned. I have wanted to switch out Child of Night for bloodghasts for some time now.

thanks a million for your advice!

This looks like a pretty awesome deck. And It seems like you have a pretty good understanding of vampire decks. Could you take a look at my Vamp deck and Let me know what you think? That would be awesome!

Do you actually own this deck and play it? If you do, how well does it run? I like the layout, and It looks like it could run pretty consistently.

This looks like a really fun deck. Vexing devil is a lot of fun and so is master of cruelties. Any I love the Goblin and master combo. this deck looks like a real pain in the ass to play against.

yeah, I still can't get rid of my 4 drops lol.
I want the deck to start strong but I don't want to mess with the midrange power it has going.

I absolutely will check your stuff when I get a chance.

Okay, so I'm trying out -2 Child of night and +2 Shadow Alley Denizen. It will allow whichever creature is equipped with lashwrithe to do a lot of damage in turn 5 or 6 maybe even ending the game. I have some play testing to try this evening but I think it will do well.

I may try 4 Denizens in place of Childs all together.

Thanks, This deck is really only concept. I own none of the cards in the main deck. I just wanted to create an equipment deck that would be fun to play. The point of the swords are to work with puresteel paladin to gain protection from the specific colors of the opposing deck. A puresteel Paladin and Etched Champion on the field with awesome swords attacking and your opponent can do nothing about it... that sounds like a blast.

however a good control or mill deck would tear this thing apart.

I never thought about thoughtsieze and stormbreath not mixing. I never got around to putting this deck together so it was purely a concept.

I do own all the cards above, but I took out anowon because he was to slow to ever get any use. By the time I had 5 mana and him in my hand I always have better options like removal and any of the 4 drops.

I thought about trying to put in some 1 drops but I'm not sure which one would be good in combination with the pumps. The deck's main mechanic is to come alive on turn 4, 5 and 6. with Bloodline and nocturnus. The big finisher is Lashwrithe. Turn 4, drop lashwrithe, pay 4 life and equip nighthawk or child to get major damage and earn back the life just spent to equip it. Then turn 5 and 6 are spent doing major damage and playing bloodlines and nocturnus. That's why Anowon is too slow unfortunately. Anowon is one of my favorites.

What 1 drops would you suggest? I have some shadow ally denizens that may work.

if your going to run a vampire deck with such a long game mana curve, then you should run x2 Exquisite Bloods. Just for the chance of hitting the infinite damage combo with Sanguine Bond.

This deck looks really great. I would only suggest swapping out phyrixian arena for sign in blood and read the bones. However, I only like those cards better than the arena because you can control your card draw more and activate Vampire Nocturnus if he isn't active. But since you don't run him, the arena works a nice as a consistent card draw.

Any reason you don't run Vampire Nocturnus?

Here are my vampire decks. version 2.0 is my current Aggro setup. I would love to hear your suggestions.

Deck seems pretty solid. I wouldn't change anything really.
I personally like Lashwrithe better than than the Blade of the Bloodchief, but that is just my preference.

I know how well Bloodghast plays, I have played him before. I just don't know if he is necessarily better than child of night when she is getting pumped to huge numbers and gaining tons of life for me. Bloodghast could be equipped and pumped to a huge size as well, and If killed possibly come back the very next turn.

But its the life gain I'm thinking about. I never thought I would compare Child of Night to Bloodghast.

The mana curve does level out a little better than shown when you consider Gatekeeper of malakir. I consider him a 3 drop because I NEVER play him as a 2 drop.

I thought about switching out child of night for bloodghast. But child has lifelink. Between her and nighthawk, I always have lifelink present on the field and usually equip lashwrithe to one of them.

The deck also revolves around my 4 drops. Bloodline, nocturnus and Lashwrithe. its true i don't have any first turn creatures, but the deck starts running on turn 2 and hits really hard by turn 5 and 6. And my removal (including gatekeeper) help slow down any decks that are faster than this one.

The main question i guess is... Is bloodghast as good in this layout as child? I usually have child as an 8/7 or 10/9 each game with lifelink.

This deck looks like fun. But I would focus on the combo more. for example, get rid of kalonian and progenitus as they don't have an x in their mana cost. I would get rid of the door as well, with it and progenitus, the deck is almost mono green so why make it a 5 color deck to run 2 cards?

I would focus on green, blue and black. Obviously green for your hydras. Blue for your fog bank and Freed from the reel. but I would add black to run read the bones, sign in blood and phyrixian arena for card draw. maybe even some diabolic tudors to insure you can get the cards needed to set the combo off. I can't think of any off hand but try finding another infinite mana combo and try running it as well to add more chances of landing the billion headed hydra. =)

Maybe run some sylvan caryatids as they are defenders and can tap for a mana of any color to insure the deck doesn't stall out.

As for insuring the hydras come through and deal the damage needed, maybe some rogues passage.

I love hydra decks and mine is one of my favorites. feel free to check it out. http://www.mtgvault.com/xreverie8/decks/hydras/

As you said above, you may not take my advice. But I hope this helps.
