Deck Description

Rakdos (B/R) is the most versatile color combination I have ever seen. You can use it for Aggro, Combo, and even CONTROL. That's right.

Today we see how Modern BR Midrange deck differs from a traditional Midrange deck.

How to Play

First off, this deck isn't the type of deck that stalls the game with counter spells, draw triggers, board wipes, and spot removal to finish off with a big game winner. Instead, it relies solely on burn, card advantage and hand attack.

Win Condition: Normally, the win condition is Demigod of Revenge, which, in conjunction with Liliana of the Veil and Sarkhan the Mad can really frustrate your opponents. Otherwise, there are a few burn spells, just in case that plan goes awry.

Many people think that playing B/R means playing as fast as possible. In this deck, THAT IS WRONG. This deck has an extremely adaptive pace to the game. Want to win on turn 5? Discard some Demigods and cast another for a game winner. Want to hold back and make your opponent run out of options? Use Inquisition of Kozilek and Blightning to attack their hand and cheap removal like Lightning Bolt and Terminate to stall their attack, while also slowly eating away at their life total.

Overall, this deck is the best deck I could come up with for all match-ups. It might not be the best form of Control out there, but it can definitely put an dent in a Control, Aggro, or Combo player's plan.

Deck Rating: 8
Reason for Rating: Play-testing this in Modern, which is quite often a very quick format, I saw that this deck had problems against Infect and Drain decks. Mainly I see this because these decks are some of the fastest out there. However, paradoxically, this deck is VERY good against RDW (Red Deck Wins), mainly because of the hand disruption and cheap creature removal. Overall, this deck is just TOO experimental to be a top tier deck, even if it is the epidemy of anti-Control.
