I run a deck with The Rack and Shrieking Affliction. When you have more than one out, it's extremely fast. I also use Mutilate to clear the board and Vampire Nighthawks to stall and do some damage. I have found that if you can double up on The Rack and/or Shrieking Affliction that it is very very successful.

However, there are many ways to design a discard deck. I feel like there are a good few variations out there that either work well with The Rack or do not. So don't force that card in if it doesn't work for your brew. Later!

Love the original take on this! I would love to see a third resonator in my build to help my chances of drawing it. Great idea!

Sorry it was marked unloved, doesn't deserve that at all. This site is very odd when it comes to likes and comments. Wish it was better.

Sorry you had to mark this as "Unloved." I think it's a perfectly fine deck. I like how fast it must run. The creatures are fast and almost guaranteed damage. The spells are super cheap and do max damage for the cost. Looks great!

I wish more people on this site would speak up or at least hit "like"

Very cool! I'm jealous of the Glimpse the Unthinkable since I can't afford those lol!

I am not sure if this disrupts your deck too much or not, but I'd consider adding Hedron Crabs in place of Wight of Precinct Six. Wight can be really good but sometimes it sucks when you play against a control deck that doesn't have very many creatures. Ideally if you are playing with sideboarding you could use the Wight against the aggro decks and side in the Hedron Crabs against low creature decks. Just a thought.

Nice deck! I see that you have plenty of tutor abilities and Jarad is pretty hard to stop if you play it right. I am just starting to get into EDH/Commander. As I undertand it from my research you want plenty of tutor abilites and board wipes etc...

If you need more board wipes black has quite a few to offer. Let me know how this plays!

My deck if you have any insights....http://www.mtgvault.com/zombie23/decks/esper-control-edh/

If you are not keeping it standard then I would recommend "Blightning."

You can also use any kind of "Pinger" like Vulshock Sorcerer that taps to do a damage to a player, there are several cards that do this.

You can run burn of any sort: Lightning Bolt, Shock….whatever you want.

"Bump in the Night"

Tons of options in Rakdos colors that will deal some damage to then get the demon out.

Hope this helps! (Oh, didn't see your note about keeping it standard)

I once had a deck fairly similar and I loved the synergy with "Grave Pact" and "Awakening Zone"

Nice! I like how this controls the game until you can drop an Elbrus.

Have you considered Dimir Keyrune? It would provide a little bit of ramp and also another Unblockable creature when needed. Since Elbrus is just 1 to equip you could even afford to activate the keyrune/equip/attack. Just a thought.

I'd love to offer up some advice. First of all what is your budget? Vampires can be spendy, but it's possible to make them cheap as well. Tell me that and I'll see what I can think of.

Welcome to magic! Congrats on your first deck!

I like the deck! Have you playtested this much? If you have then you would know better than me if my advice is good LOL. So here is my amazing advice!

*Total of 5 lands that tap for colorless. Should be fine since most of your deck does not require color, but the Trident might be very hard to get out in some games. However, if you have tested this deck out a lot and it doesn't seem to be an issue, than bobs your uncle!

I guess that's it! You might find more ways to buff Etched Champion as that's just fun to do.

Thanks for looking! Yea "Unwinding Clock" is a beast in this deck as it also untaps many of my lands. I went to your deck and checked it out as well.

Thank you Muktol. I like all of your advice.

Basically I don't have access currently to another Captivating Vampire nor another Nocturnas.

I did however follow some of your other advice and I like it better. Thanks!

Went with Sign In Blood because it's also a shock spell if needed.

That's a great idea. I'll test that out whenever I can get a hold of those cards. Thank you very much for the help!

Thank you for the feedback.

I tried Inexorable Tide for a while and actually found it to be really slow and sometimes hard to get the 5 mana.

Tezzeret's Gamble is nice, I might replace the Steady Progress with that.

Might find some room for Viral Drake as well, I like the fact it flies and has a proliferate option.

Thank you!

Another card you might playtest is the difference between "Phyrexian Arena" and "Underworld Connections." You get the same black devotion but Underworld is optional and won't kill you if you are behind in life.

Great deck! I'm very jealous that you have some of these cards LOL.

I like how this deck seems like it would play and curve out. You obviously know what you are doing. I am absolutely a mono-black player at heart and the crown jewel known as Phyrexian Obliterator has alluded me over the years due to lack of funds. This really seems like a well thought out deck.

The only thing I can think of that might help (and honestly you don't need to change a thing) is the following:

1. Have you considered a "mana dump" of some kind for late game? Seems like with the Shrine and just games that run long it would be nice to have something to load up like "Consume Spirit" or something along those lines.

2. Have you considered some sweepers like "Black Sun's Zenith" or "Mutilate?" I only consider this in your deck because your creatures are so resilient. Therefore you can afford to sweep and then your guys come back but the opponent will most likely be restarting.

By my count there are 15 creature spells total counting the spells that spit out tokens etc...

Now I will admit that at times there are games I'm waiting, but the beautiful thing is there is some control to slow things down and while I'm waiting for creatures I'm usually laying down a few of the enchantments that makes a simple "Midnight Haunting" 2 spirit tokens into 2 5/5 tokens. Let me know if you considered this in your comment. I love feedback and I thank you.
