This is meant to be a template for a Modern Merfolk deck instead of an actual specific deck. I created this template because I don't play Modern and wanted a baseline for experimenting with a merfolk deck against the current meta (which I am mostly ignorant of).Feel free to post comments with advice, critiques, etc.The sideboard is a combination of sideboard, maybe-board for the main deck, and experimental cards.

Forcing yourself into an extra colour isn't the best thing to do in modern.Sometimes sure, but really depends on the deck and the splash.You're almost better just staying blue and using Mana leak or remand over path.Because you're using vials you can keep your mana open on turn 2+ for counter magic.Just a thought, but yeah could still be fine depending on your meta.Path only deals with a few decks, counters help with combo and non-creature based decks.

Thanks for the info. Would you suggest sideboarding creature removal? or sideboarding for more specific meta threats? Graveyard / combo / artifact hate.
most non-black decks will use dismember as their removal.I think fish generally has remands/mana leaks main deck.Reality Shift may be modern playable?
