Deck Description

Well, some time ago my wife and I struck a deal;
No new cash buys on MTG before our child arrives (sometime late April) BUT, it is a-okay to TRADE for card, and also use the ones I already have. So, I went through my binder and drawer and found Rakdos, Lord of Riots, read it, re-read it and thought, Dayum there's combo material afoot.

Last week I traded for a Vedalken Orrery, and having that out, with Rakdos, it almost feels like cheating monsters into play, heheeee...

How to Play

This deck is mostly intended for multiplayer, where most damage can be dealt. I also tried to stray away from infinite combos, since almost none I know plays with those.
There are a few combos in this pile of dirt, but mostly it plays big critters, either for naught or for a minimum of mana.

Either you're lucky and get board presence fast, or, stall out with burn spells, disrupt creatures, maybe board-wipe until you can get Rakdos in play and unleash Hell.

Some of the Combos:

Valakut + Blood Moon = makes the cheap fetchlands an instant Bolt

Landfall with Ob - Fetchlands with this guy out = 6 dmg, 6 +1 +1 counters, meaning Steel Hellkite is now free.

Master of Cruelties + Rogue's Passage equals a lot of free Eldrazis

Why the Lodestone Golem?

Hey dude :) Sorry for the late reply - Lodestone is only in there for two reasons: Making opponents pay more (which occur plenty in our group) and two; he's a 5/3 for 0.
I actually tested this today, and one card, as doctorhydrogen refers to, an enchantment destroyed this utterly:
"Humility" hit the table and afterwards "Wrath of God"

But at one point, though, I dominated the field. You see, one - just one - spell made it possible: Blazing Salvo, while having Guttersnipe on the field:
Opp chose 5 points of dmg, and GS added 2, then 2 more and then another 2 (We were 4 players total) that make every critter I had cost 9CMC less, so, Colossus was free and Skeletal Wurm for {B}

But as mentioned earlier - Humility destroyed this one like a walk in the park. So I'll definitely dig for some Enchantment removal spells.

I made this only with cards I already had - My wife and I have a baby on the way, so cash is short and cards are hard to find, the *right cards, that is ^_<

Chaos Warp is one of the few ways you can deal with enchantments in R/B. I'd find a slot over one as a Sphere of Safety or something could literally render a game unwinnable.

Flamekin Villiage is great haste enabler.

Awesome suggestions, doc ! I'll have to trade my way through, but hopefully some will have these.
A new word I learned today: Flamekin Village - that should've been in Lorwyn and state: "Caution advised ! Extreme heat my occur !" Heh
I really need that Warp :-0

I'd also consider maybe Ashes to Ashes over Reckless Spite. Sure, you lose instant speed, but it lets you hit black creatures (but not artifact) and it's an exile effect so there's no graveyard schenannigans and it'll deal with Avacyn, Theros gods, etc. It's probably meta dependent to be honest; I encounter a metric shit-tonne (official term) of indestructible dudes where I play, so I almost always prioritize exile over kill, but it may not matter where you play.

I need that one - Went through my magic pile, but couldn't find a copy - proxy for now I guess ^_^

I found one ! xD
Also Minions' Murmurs for more card draw
I also added Heat Shimmer for a, somewhat small, shenanigan. You get any critter, and with Guttersnipe out, deal some pain on the fly :-)

I'm going to have to look at this thoroughly soon...In the meantime I suggest you check out Wumps' version. It's really, really good. I HIGHLY doubt you'll get a response from him though. He still lurks on the site from time to time, but the guy has a 2-month-old so.....

Hey man, thanks a lot - I know, I know. I stated earlier that no new Magic decks would be created, but I found a roll of red tape, if you will, haha. See, If I can build decks out of cards, I already own, then it's green ^_^
Unfortunately that means, very little changes can occur, but I am go for proxies.

I'll be sure to check Wumps' deck. Ah, miracle incarnate.
My wife and I just entered 3rd trimester, and we're very excited. It's kind'a surreal that she has life within her womb, but at the same time, wonderful and very awe-inspiring :'-)

Thanks for the comment, my friend

I'm semi hunting a Purphoros, God of Annihilation to spice things up.

What's your opinion so far, SWN? Is it rubbish this whole 'No pain, no gain so-to-speak'?

BTW, I'm adding an Infiltration Lens as extorion stuff ^_^

Nah, as I understand it that's how you play Rakdos. Lots of pain, lots more gain =]

Maybe Black Sun's Zenith over Infest? Yeah, you have to spend 4 instead of 3 to give dudes -2/-2, but they're permanent counters so they'll weaken stuff you wouldn't kill, and it has the option of pumping more mana into it if need be. IMO the flexibility is worth the slot, and after the reprint in Commander 2015 it's now a dollar card, qualifying it as pretty close to a bargain.
