Deck Description

The first objective of this deck is to build a lot of mana early on to play Atla as soon as possible before anyone has counters/removal. After that, we want to protect Atla with various protection artifacts/auras and start making eggs. With Vizier of Remedies+Devoted Druid we can make infinite mana and then pour all of it into walking ballista to ping everyone. Alternately, we can dump our infinite mana into helix pinnacle. Xenagos is the only other creature in the deck and his only purpose is to give devoted druid haste so it can tap right away with vizier in play for infinite mana. Therefore, we need to create and crack at least 4 eggs for the combo to succeed. There's also enchantments like fervor that give haste so in that case we'd only need 3 eggs (Vizier, Druid, Ballista). We can also use thousand-year elixir and magewright's stone to untap Palani to activate her multiple times in a turn. Phyrexian altar and Ashnod's altar work wonders because not only do they sac our egg tokens but add mana as well. Finally, we run a lot of wrath effects in this deck. This is because we are extremely weak to early game board creature rushes, but it also can destroy and activate our eggs. If you have one of the combo pieces in hand, make sure to not play it until you are ready to combo off and if it resolves make sure to give it protection so it sticks. Getting a devoted druid countered or removed will basically ruin the whole game and force a scoop. This can and will happen. This hellbent approach appeals to some and not others.

Note: I recently completed another deck tech of Mayael the Anima to compare with Atla Palani. Though they both essentially try to do the same things, I think for the purpose of cheating creatures into play Mayael is the better commander. She requires less mana and less effort to use her ability, and because she is so cheap to cast (3 mana), it is easy to pay her commander tax if she gets removed.

Let me know what you think of the Atla Palani infinite life combo and anything you would do differently!
