Kira is awesome... but i'm not sure if merfolk are good enough to base a deck on. All the merfolk decks I looked at consisted of nearly the same cards. ( and I think they are a bit boring ) Slivers are way cooler - yeah in fact you should build a sliver-deck.

I understand where you are coming from but the reason that many merfolk decks look similar is because this is an established top tier deck build. With the exception of strip mine and mental misstep Crowns could walk into any legacy tourny in the world and have a real shot of being in the finals.

However slivers are fun too. This is the best slivers deck build I have been able to come up with if you are interested. Even it runs similar to fish however, just because the concept is just that good. Slivers (legacy Style) http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=273225

Hey, nice deck. I'm trying to make the archetypal decks for the 5 basic tribals. Could you check out the merfolk one? Thanks. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=256759

Nice to see you finally do a creature based deck, and not that combo-based boring bullsh*t :)

Hey doesn't look half bad. i would definitely swap out dazes, for counterspells, and consider taking out 1 or 2 aether vials, because in late game, lets face it you'll have enough mana to put out anything and you'd rather be drawing a life saving counterspell or creature. Check out my merfolk deck and tell me what you think http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=271168

the plan is to kill people before the lategame. Its a tempo deck. If a merfolk deck gets to the late game it will use the mana to pump coralhelm and activate mutavault.

Nice looking build. Only suggestions I have are that I would never go down to less than four Merrow Reejerey or Silvergill Adept, particuarlly not to make room for 4 Tidal Warrior.

Also I love standstill and and Umezawa's Jitte with merfolk. Standstill is just evil when you have a vial out and jitte = board control.
Also I would rather run Spell Pierce or Phantasmal Image instead of mana leak.

Good luck with the deck!

Tidal Warrior/Reef Shaman (sideboard) is mostly to irritate the opponent and can of cause be useful to my own Wasteland/Mutavault. Perhaps thats also answer the question about Spell Pierce...

Like the equipments, but dont want em when I got none to tutor em. btw Sword of Fire and Ice beat em all! :)
Phantasmal Image could maybe be a good one here... let me drink on it :)

Gonna swing this deck next local tournament so thanks for the comments and thanks for takin ya time. Happy x-mas!
