Deck discussion for The House of Markov

Drop the dark rituals for sanguine bond/exquisite blood info it combo to make modern for tournaments or w/e. Why no captivating vampire???? I like the deck but the shade is a bit high for what it does for me, I get that it is to combo with exsanguate but I prefer the one that gives bloodlust 3 to vampires and infinite life/damage combo. Have you considered blood artist over highborn? Its the same cost for a smaller creature that does one loss/one gain for free.

OK so the reason vampires were my first deck was because i started playing in zendikar, so there are a lot of old favorites of mine in here. that is why some of the cards in here are not what you would normally expect to find in a deck like this.

im currently working on an update and captivating vampire is on the list of possible creatures to add. nirkara revenant may be expensive, but is there to maximize an exsanguinate in hand (which almost guarantees death to all other players assuming no one is playing control or outrageous lifegain), like you said. as for bloodlord of vaasgoth, i like him, but i need to be able to do consistent damage to make the bloodthirst worth it, and sometimes i just cant. as for blood artist, i would rather use highborn because one creature can trigger my bloodchief ascension, whereas blood artist cannot. also, i used to use a combo similar to the sanguine/exquisite combo but that was before exquisite blood was printed. while i wont deny it is effective, its too predictable, and a complete waste if i cant do a single point of damage or life loss before it gets exiled or destroyed.

as for making it modern, no way. i would rather it be legacy by only one card than take out the best card in the entire deck. the deck is meant for casual play, which to me means that i will use it against whatever my opponent is playing, so long as they dont mind the deck being technically legacy. i played a judge once after my round at a tournament was over to kill time, and he didnt mind that my deck was legacy and his was modern. he actually agreed with me that NOT having dark ritual in the deck would be a mistake, because the flavor makes it that much more perfect. im not above making the deck better, but let me just put it this way. before this version of the deck, not one of my friends with any of their decks could beat the original deck, which was strictly zendikar block and m10 and i think m11. the fact that such a narrow window of cards was trashing legacy and modern decks was just unthinkable. this deck got on its feet by learning to beat the hell out of a legacy sliver combo deck, and because the odds were always against it, it learned to be a ruthless killing machine. my vampires do not play nice with others.

They are not supposed too! You don't have to deal damage to start off the sanguine/exquisite combo, it will start it but so will life gain. I normally just attack with nighthawk or some other life linker. Black agro decks are some of the hardest to go against. They have out right death, life gain, and banding creatures. Wtf were they thinking putting that into one creature type?!? Don't take the comment above as anything other than suggestions. I like your deck. Have you collected different printing for your dark rituals?

the site doesnt show the ones that i actually have, just the most recent printing of it. it doesnt matter to me if the card artwork is the same on here as in reality.

and yes, there are 4 different artworks for the urzatron. each one is associated with a season

That's cool, I think I may make a tron deck now. I enjoy running different art, my blue deck has alt art for every card that has one in it. Not smart if you are running it in a tournament, but fun for casual.
