Deck Description

=) Sinister... I just dusted these cards off again and added some newer cards for fun. This deck owns... Unfortunately unless you've been playing forever like me, this deck is expensive...

Updated sideboard 4/10/11... black knight's for white weenie, dunerider outlaw for elves, gloom for white decks in general (it stacks instead of only being able to have one Nether Void out at a time) and thoughtseize for an early discard for against blue.

Wow, if I ever win the lottery and for some reason to spend it on this game, this is what I'm going for...

never played vinatge before, so i playtested this with some proxies against my mate's zoo deck yesterday and it was pretty close- drew 7 consectutive swamp's, down to 6 life, 3x Juzám Djinn (now in the graveyard) and a Hypnotic Specter (also 'buried') did the work early on to put my opponent on 3 and his lack of land + my Nether Void gave me a chance, i drew Hypnotic Specter, then drew Underworld Dreams- hit him with the Specter (1 life!) then cast Underworld Dreams, he drew a card and lost the game. also just tried this against dredge and won 2-0! going to be trying this against a 'tezzerator' and maybe a control next week. great deck!!!

Awesome, I'm glad you're enjoying this deck. Anytime you can drop Juzam djinn early and follow it up with Nether Void, it's hard for an opponent to figure out a game winning solution to combat you with. Or even worse, if you have the Hypnotic Specter out you start dwindling there hand and their cost is already up. It's an awesome deck. Thanks!

cheers. and much appreciated if you find the time to check my stuff out.

I just want to thank you for posting this, this deck was the main thing that got me into black, and it's probably my favourite colour now.

Also, I used this and one other as a starting point for my first Legacy MBC, which the newer version of has to be one of my most amusing and unique decks. I salute you drumhead21, you've created a monster :P

No problem my man, I've been taking a break from magic lately and even more interesting is that i have kinda given up on Standard, I've spent too much cash on it over the years to just look at my cards and say "can't use you no more, so bye bye." i Say eff that and now I'm concentrating on Vintage and Legacy. There is a Legacy tourny at my local mtg store on Thursday, gotta modify this a bit, but not much. Just gotta drop Black Lotus, Sol Ring, and Mox Jet and and swap them for different mana ramp.

This looks pretty killer.. Why 25 lands though?

Cause it's essential to have enough lands early on and even later if you have Nether Void in play and they've managed to stop the early advance...

You actually own these cards? Because that is awesome.

Yes I do. I've Been playing for a long time. Traded for most of this stuff way back around Ice Age. Had to trade bigger and spend more money later on, but i got my hands on them. I plan to replace Juzum Djinn for the new card being printed in New Phyrexia; Phyrexian Canceler. That card is amazing... I will definitely be getting a playset of that card.

Everything except the Mox and Black Lotus adds up to $925.43 at the cheapest without tax.

I'd say this deck is worth $1500. Good job.

Wasn't about value, it's a solid deck that tends to piss people off that i play against. This deck does kinda prove why those cards are worth so much money.

Why 25 swamps in a Mono-Black deck that runs Mox, Lotus, and Ritual x4? Lake of the Dead, maybe, fetch lands, Duress, Thoughtsieze main decked in place of 4 Swamps?

It's good, don't get me wrong, but 25 lands is more than 40% of your deck. Shave it to 21 lands and splash in some more control.

Necropotence (restricted) might even be a way to gain some great card advantage all while not being hit by the Underworld Dreams. It reads, "put that card into your hand" and not "draw a card."

Demonic Tutor (also restricted) would be a great add, as well.

Two options of the 4 spots opened up.

I like the extra land for two reasons... 1) I Hate being mana screwed. 2) If for some weird reason my mana comes to me slow and they manage to catch up and hurt me, i have mana to overcome Nether Void myself.

Awesome deck! I began playing MtG when Revised was released and quit when Homelands came out, so this deck brings back a lot of (painful) memories of playing against decks with Nether Void.

Yeah, phyrexia canceller is a must when it comes out, also I don't think that you need so many swamps. Also, I would greatly appreciate some comments on my new deck. It is my first artifact deck, and I don't know if it would work, so I need some constructive criticism.

This looks like a hilarious deck, just wondering why not shimian specter instead of hypnotic? just wondering. I also can't wait for the canceler. he will be amazing!
If you or anyone has any time, I would greatly appreciate any and all criticism on my new deck I made, I call it "The Ex-Wife". It Demands "Half" and sucks the life out of you. lol.
