Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (15 cards)

Instants (6)

Planeswalkers (1)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

This is a rough idea for a control deck I'm looking to try soon, after I obtain the missing pieces.

How to Play

Prevent your opponent from doing anything significant in the early turns, as control decks oft want to do. Scry lands and Omenspeaker help find the pieces you need, and Izzet Charm can be used to help dig further in addition to Toil as needed. Ætherling is Ætherling, and pretty much wins games on his own, or in conjunction with your Planeswalkers.

Ashiok and Ral are slowing the deck down so I'd get rid of them, if you're going to run Anger of the Gods it should probably be maindecked, toil//trouble kinda sucks and there are better cards you can put in it's place, you want more than 3 basic land, you could probably maindeck at least one Rakdos's Return, and you probably should have Steam Vents.

*EDIT*: Looking more at the deck, Ashiok MIGHT work for it but I'm not sure. Give it a few runs. I'm not seeing Ral doing much for you though.

Ral serves a couple different purposes, aside from his alt. He's either going to be bait for removal or an attack target, or he's going to be able to assist with creature removal/burn damage through his -2 ability, though looking at it I could see pulling him for either Lightning Strike or Magma Jet. As for Toil // Trouble, the second half can be useful against Revelation decks, but again, I could see removing it in favor for either Divination/Read the Bones.

If you were going that route I'd go Read the Bones because of the scry 2 option it gives. Card advantage wins games weather people are willing to admit that or not. As for the remark about Ral, I'd agree with Magma Jet/Lightning Strike. Again the scry 2 you get from Magma Jet could put you at a big advantage over your opponent. It's a toss up on trading the -1 damage though for card advantage. Either one can save you in a game depending on your situation.

*EDIT*: Another thing, I'm not liking Omenspeaker for some reason. It's a 2 mana 1/3 wall that lets you scry 2 so it is a good card but I'm feeling like something better could go in it's place. I'm just used to the way I play control though. I hardly have any creature cards. Another thing about Rakdos's Return is it could be one of your finishers. So if you're going to run it make it 2 instead of one.

So, pull the Omenspeakers and the Rals, and add one mainboard Rakdos's Return and a set of either Magma Jet or Lightning Strike?

Yea that might be a good move. I'm also trying to find room for Anger of the Gods and/or Mizzium Mortars in the main deck. Control of any kind needs a board wipe to stabilize against aggro.

Maybe 2 Ultimate Price and an Izzet Charm? Between Hero's Downfall and Dreadbore there's already 8 kill spells.

Well you can never have too many kill spells. I like Izzet Charm because it gives you a draw engine besides Jace and Read the Bones. Maybe Thoughtseize, do you really need that as a 4 of? Hell you might not even need Hero's Downfall and Dreadbore as a 4 of.

I can see shaving Thoughtseize down to 2 and cutting a Dreadbore to fit Anger in, then. The removed cards can go to the sideboard.

Yea that might work. Thoughtseize is nice but late game when your opponent has a lot on the board you're going to either want a board wipe or removal of some kind.
