I feel a little bit stupid but is there some way to spend more mana for Marath than his actual casting cost? because this would allow you to cast him 4 times as your commander every time 2 colorless more and thats it.doesn't sound that good to me, but maybe I just can't see the point. please enlighten me.

The point to have him constantly killing himself for removal, tokens, and buffing creatures then recasting him. It doesn't seem like much but he gets out fast and bulks up quickly while still providing lasting damage with tokens and +1/+1s. Opal Palace and Doubling Season speed up his growth dramatically.
