Deck Description

Brewed this deck to take advantage of Jalira, Master Polymorphist.
The idea is to have worldspine wurm as the only non-legendary creature card in the deck. So, when you activate Jalira, it is the only possible creature to be found and put into play.
Since you have to sacrifice another creature to activate the ability, tokens that arent attached to non-legendary creatures should be played (use instants, sorceries, legendary creatures, or planeswalkers to generate them instead).

Comments, suggestions, etc would be appreciated. Thanks.

Add 4 [M15] Jalira, master polymorphist into the mainboard

Jalira, Master Polymorphist
3U
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
3U, T, Sacrifice another creature: Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a nonlegendary creature card. Put that card onto the battlefield and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
2/2

side board is just cards that didnt make the cut.

I think the deck can function without Jalira -> worldspine wurm... but it is so much cooler if it works.

**explanation of most of the cards in the deck**

Jalira - cool ability that I want to try taking advantage of. Need 1 beefy hard to cast creature, and a sacrificial token (or legendary) creature

Worldspine wurm - Best card to find in standard. 15/15 trample, when it dies gets 3 5/5s with trample? also, when milled or discarded, goes back into library to be found with jalira again.
Also, after you swing with Worldspine wurm, you can sacrifice it, get the 3 5/5's, it'll go into your library, and then you find and put it into play again - giving your worm vigilance and 3 extra 5/5 tramplers every turn.

Trading post is used both as a way to discard Worldspine wurm so that it goes back into your library, and as a way to generate tokens. Also, it can be sacrificed itself to draw a card.

Brimaz is a great legendary creature that creates extra tokens for jalira.

growing ranks makes more tokens

advent of the wurm, eyes in the skies, and call of the conclave all create decent tokens that can block or apply pressure.

elspeth is elspeth, generates tokens, kills stuff, makes stuff big and flying.

Kiora can help stall or create card advantage

lay of the land helps you with finding that lonely island for jalira and kiora

mutavault - great against control. can be sac'd to Jalira

**cards i might consider**

sylvan caryatid - 0/3 blocker that mana ramps in any color... would help getting jalira up and running; only problem is that jalira might find it instead of world spine wurm, delaying the world spine wurm by up to 4 attempts. The upside would be the ability to get Jalira or an Advent of the worm out on turn 3.

Ordeal of nylea - possible aggressive replacement for Lay of the land

Deck discussion for Jalira's Wurm

Having had a little experience with some Trading Post decks in the past, may I suggest Prophetic Prism as an alternative mana fixer? It's just a really standard mana fixer, draws you a card when it comes out, AND in a trading post deck can be sacrificed later to draw again! It's like a really wonky, mana fixey, Think Twice. That being said, I love the idea of a Polymorph type deck like this, and you even have a safety net for her in Rootborn Defenses, which is brilliant. Nice work! Do you mind if I toy with a Naya version of this?

I agree with this 100%. I also feel that growing ranks, and ley of the land would probably be better off as seles-charm or azor-charm as they provide utility. He doesn't need mana fixing as there are 2 full sets of duals in standard.

This being said i love the deck idea.

Thanks for the suggestions you two. I am pretty excited to see other ppl like the idea too.

Dith0rder - Not to say the prophetic Prism is bad, but I think I prefer to stick with lay of the land as it guarantees a land drop. I think getting the 4th land drop is pretty important. Also, its the only 1cmc card whereas the prism is 2cmc so it competes with the creatures in that spot (call of the conclave, raise the alarm, selesnya charm).
If/when I build this in paper, I'll be sure to test both in that slot.
How would the Naya version work? splash red for assemble the legion?

Viagrasaurusrex - I think i would go with selesnya charm over azorius charm since it can create a token.
As for growing ranks, you may be right, it can be a bit clunky, but the possibility to have a 5/5 trampler copied every turn has got to be pretty cool. Maybe i'll drop it down to a 1 of.
I think i do need some mana fixing- quite a few of the cards are GGW or WW or just GW, and I only have 5 sources of blue for jalira and kiora.

Yeah I put a few copies of selesnya charm in my list and put azorius in the sideboard. I had a lot more blue sources in my list as I wanted to bring in blue sideboard options, 3 copies of prism fixes very well. The reason I took prism over ley of the land is because i wanted more card draw over fixing.

Yeah like growing ranks has some sweet interactions and synergy with the deck, but once we have our wurm loop going it becomes more of a "win-more" card. and its bad if we are behind, again just my 2 cents.

fair enough. I haven't really thought about my sideboard at all yet.
Ive compromised for now and have 2-2 for prism and lay of the land.

Youre right about growing ranks being a 'win-more' card. I guess I was thinking you could have it out on turn 4, and turn 5 you can flash in a wurm EoT and get 2 wurms to swing with.

I just felt vs control it would be nice to have access to cards like negate and what not lol.

cant negate a supreme verdict :( but thats what rootborn defenses is for
but you can negate a...sphinx's rev, d-sphere, banishing light, azorius charm, devour flesh, hero's downfall, doomblade, elspeth... hmm
What would azorius charm do for the deck?
What about mizzium skin against removal?

yeah but you can use rootborn to negate verdict, it was more so to deal with spot removal, planeswalkers and everything else you stated. Azorius charm is card draw, is mainly in there for its lifelink for the burn matchup , or aggro decks. I haven't done much testing yet so I just put random cards for the most part, besides the control and mono blue hate.
I have never been a fan of mizzium skin, like don't get me wrong its fine, and its with cards like silence the believers and etc it has gotten better, just most of the time its still a 1 for 1.
Personal preference really.

This would be my version, it plays chord and raise the alarm allowing us to have more EoT interactions.
You can chord on turn 4-5 at EoT and morph turn 5-6.
I feel this would give us better chances at comboing out.

I wish we had like a 2cmc ramp spell though, farseek would be perfect.

When i first was imagining the deck, i had raise the alarm in it... but forgot about all the non-Jalira m15 cards when actually putting this together >.>

Ohh, thats not a bad tutor with all our tokens. Might allow us to play less copies of Jalira? Yeah the ability to flash her in EoT makes it much more likely to work.

yeah i wish we had a 2 cmc ramp spell too, theres only font of fertility at 1+2, and creature based ones(sylvan caryatid), and 3-4cmc land enchant ones.

Alarm works better with chord of calling, I dropped call of the conclave for it. Without chord call is still a fine card, just Alarm Chord works better in my opinion.

I might stick with 4 copies of her and 3 of chord, after some testing I may drop the numbers to like 3-3 or even 2-3 depending on how it feels.

I find font too slow as its not a true 2CMC ramp spell, giant growth/farseek, or even explore would be great.

The main reason I'm a huge fan of this is that I used to play a Bant polymorph deck back in like ZEN standard, nothing like turn 3-4ing an spagetti monster lol. I didn't even think to try and build a deck like this, so all the props to you good sir.

Im going to try a 4-2 split. the GGG cost of Chord might be a bit awkward to cast really early.
Font is bad, I think its barely playable in limited.

Thanks a lot for the support. I do think has improved quite a bit with your suggestions.

yeah the GGG most of the time will be cast by lands, but the creatures still tap for X just fine. I just don't want to assume too much before testing.

Np, ty for bringing this idea to my attention lol. I hope they cater to her post rotation.

I know it's been a while, but after some long, grueling trial and error..I made a Jalira Trading Post Control abomination. I started out Naya (I really tried D:), hoping I could incorporate Assemble the Legion and Boros Charm. But in the end, I just felt like Trading Post Control was a better vehicle to deliver the punch. Midrange/ramp has never really been my forte.

Im a bit confused: Isnt Naya Red-White-Green? Then add blue for Jalira? so 4 colors?

Yeah, i have another deck in experimental mode - Boros lifegain - http://www.mtgvault.com/icooper/decks/purphoross-pridemate/ and I'm finding that I just want to cut the combo pieces more and more :( Especially since its a more aggressive build.

Commented on your deck, I think your deck is probably better at comboing off while this one might just win/lose with tokens before I have a chance to.

Yeah, it would have been Naya colors and then just Jalira..but the blue kept creeping in because I was dying for some card draw and then one thing led to another and...back to Bant. I think if green had better ramp (or if populate cards had a better curve), I wouldn't have felt such a need for card draw. And it probably didn't help that I have such a massive crush on durdle control featuring a Trading Post, it was inevitable that it would come to this. Anyway, thanks for the positive response :D
