Deck Description

The current build of my EDH/Commander deck: Ghave, Guru of Spores.
It's an intricate token generation/ reanimator style deck. Pretty much the entire deck is about abusing etb/death triggers repetitively to win the game.
THAT'S RIGHT KIDS, KILL YOUR OWN CREATURES AND PROFIT.

How to Play

Like i said above, this deck has a ton of combos in it , some are infinites and some are not., but heres a list of the most common ones
Ghave + Doubling Season + Ashnod's Altar = infinite mana, saproling tokens, and +1/+1 counters. Add fecundity for unlimited draw as well.
Sun Titan + Free Sac Outlet (Ashnod's Altar, greater good)+ gift of immortality= infinite card draw or mana.
ghave + mikaeus + yosei= opponent untap lock (aka yosei lock)
gift of immortality + rune scarred demon+ sac outlet= demonic tutor each turn
.... actually, any creature with a good etb + death trigger and gift of immortality is pretty crazy.
martyr's bond or dictate of erebos + ghave or recurring creature equals grave pact lock. (I know grave pact could be played, but the 3 black makes it really difficult to cast without limiting your available black mana.
If at any time you have the abilty to make infinite mana, if at all possible, make sure to leave 2 white and 2 black open for debt to the deathless. (protip: if you are ahead on life on the board, pay only enough colorless keep yourself from the spells kill range..... reverberate is a card you dont want to be blown out by.)
mikaus + woodfall primus+ sac outlet= unlimited noncreature permanent destruction. ( while not a kill condition in itself, i haven't met many who continue playing when all they have left on board is a couple creatures.

Because of how much is going on in this deck it will take awhile before you figure out all the lines of play. These aren't the fastest combo's imaginable by any means, but this deck is generally resilient to most common ways of shutting down reanimation or tokens. But here's a small list of things that can get in your way.
Pithing needle naming ghave. (annoying, but wont completely shut you down)
angel of jubilation (this creature needs not only death in its life, but is completely swords to plowshares worthy)
Leyline of the void/ rest in peace. shuts down all of the non-token creature combos, but tokes are still online.
SIgarda, Host of Herons- while not necessarily a card that hates on this deck, sigarda is incredibly difficult to keep in check long enough to get your factory off the ground... so to speak.
Stony Silence is both necessary for this deck to compete against artifact based edh decks and a complete shutdown of ashnod's altar and mimic vat. Though it may hurt you, it will generally hurt your opponents more. (note: stony silence shuts down all activated abilities, which means anything with the Cost: Effect clause. which means artifact lands cannot tap for mana.)

Deck discussion for Ghave, Guru of Spores Edh

just a pro tip: all commander decks usually show the commander on the sideboard, also, parallel lives could duplicate doubling season for the ghave+doubling season+ashnod's altar(parallel lives gives you another token for each token, I think)

Actually since the name of the commander is the deck title, it doesn't matter if it's in the sideboard or not. As for using parallel lives, while it does do the token doubling, that's all it does. For one extra mana you get the double counters as well. That affects any counters produced, so if say you decided to add a PW, it would get double the loyalty. Useful yes, but in this case Doubling Season is much better here

ah, thanks for telling me this. all commander decks built on this site show the commander on the sideboard, named after the commander or not.

the token generation isn't as important compared to the counter duplication that cathars' crusade and doubling season are. Similar cards like hardened scales, corpsejack menace, and twilight drover are okay, but arent exactly my style enough to be run. But if you want to reduce the cost of the deck to exclude the pricetag of doubling season id put in parallel lives. As well as include other token generation spells like martial coup or entreat the angels (I don't like army of the damned because the 13 2/2's usually get wrathed and come into play tapped.)
Another thing i have failed to mention is that beastmaster ascension could be included to suppliment a more aggressive playstyle.

Also, i believe mana confluence would be strictly better than city of brass in this deck, but i havent gotten around to buying it yet.
That and original duels and gaea's cradle would be optimal for this deck.

ah, thanks. by the way, could you check out some of my commander decks and suggest a couple things. I know that not a lot of what I said helped, but can you try to help me?
