Counterspell. Magic has become a game of who has the bigger wallet. Counterspell is illegal in Constructed now, but we have Unified Will, Mana Leak, Negate, etc. all of which are inexspensive. Any fool can build a deck of nothing but rares and mythics and call it a deck; there's nothing like sending your opponent's $100 bills to the graveyard.

Right on. 10/10
October 1st couldn't come soon enough.
This is beast. Anyone can put together tons of mythics/rares and man lands and call it a deck. I love stuff like this man. Inexpensive, mono-colored, deck maker tested and community approved. You are one skilled pyromancer.
I think he's trying to keep it Standard Legal.
I like what you've got going here. I've tried making a deck like this, and I've found (after much experimentation) is looking for a way to protect your allies so you can get them out. I'd remove your Sea Gate Loremasters and Halimar Excavators, increase your Kabira Evangel count to 4 (giving you a decent blocker to stall for time while you beef your allies up, or an absolute beast of an ally to combine with Join the Ranks when your opponent tries attacking with everything!) I'd only put the Everflowing Chalice in an artifact deck (to be combined with Etherium Sculptor) and reduce the amount of Rite of Replication to one, if only to make room for counterspells (like Hindering Light, which would be invaluable for a deck like this). But if you've tested this at FNM and it's done well for you, then forget I ever said anything!
I'm not very good at determining a deck's effectiveness from a glance, but I like what I see! (In my opinion) good job!
One question. Has this worked for you at FNM?
What's this? A working, affordable, mono-colored standard legal deck? Yes! This is exactly the kind of stuff this site needs, not that Jund/Esper garbage. Kudos, man.
I'm pretty sure by "decks they own" you mean "realisticlly affordable decks that actually require thought to play". From your deck list, I can see that you've built a nice blue deck that's filled with cards that people can actually afford. That's good, because any moron can build a $450 Jund deck that plays itself. It takes REAL skill to build something that works on a budget. Your deck, with the exception of a few cards, is mostly standard legal, which is awesome. Blue supposedly got the proverbial fat end of the stick in standard format, but I like it when people support the underdog. Good to see you reppin' blue in 2010, man.
Gorgon Recluse is cool, but what about some Stronghold Rats in the Sideboard to penetrate a mono-black opponent's defenses?
Jund sucks. I'm sorry, I just had to say it. Excellent deck, seems relatively inexpensive. Also, good choice putting 20 lands in the deck, I see I'm not the only one who finds 24 lands excessive (you end up with more mana than you need!) +1
Jund sucks. Finally, someone who understands. It's funny, the common arguement given by Jund players is that players who make anti-Jund decks have no imagination!
Pretty sweet man, but how well does it play? Budget decks are the best; nice work. +1
Dang, dude, you're always making decks. Seems a tad expensive (for a one-on-one fight anyway), but yeah: in a multiplayer free-for-all/triple threat, this would be pretty badass.
Thanks for the help Roughneck... Okay, all I can tell you is this: I'm sort of confused as to the general strategy of this deck. Celestial Purge, Path to Exile...Liliana?! For this deck, Flashfreeze should be in your sideboard, not Cancel. You should have Clone in your Main Deck (amazing card). As a rule of thumb, put color specific cards in your sideboard i.e. things with Landwalk, spells like Deathmark and Flashfreeze. Your Main Deck should be balanced so that it can perform well against any opponent; the sideboard should only serve to give you a slight edge against certain colors. As a start (if you're on a budget), I'd go either straight blue or blue/black. You say you're making a sort of anti-Jund deck, but a lot of your cards (Excommunicate, Into the Roil, Architects of Will, Vectis Dominator...) just seem to be delaying the inevitable. I'd recommend scrapping the Plains cards and just going Blue/Black. I'd add Cancels, a few more Reckless Scholars, Vampire Nighthawks, and a Sage Owl or 3 (or 4). Bala Ged Thief, Duress, and Mind Rot are all inexpensive Standard legal black cards that can help with Liliana's +1 ability. For the blue part of your deck, you can use Into the Roil to bounce your opponents creatures and then counter them when they're played again. Sage Owl and Ponder assure that you'll get the card you want. Mind Spring, Ior Rune Expedition and Merfolk Looter are cheap blue cards that assure you'll get the card you want when you want it. I'd forget Architects of Will. If you absolutely must have the Plains cards in your deck, I'd invest in Hindering Light, White Knight, and Kiss of the Amesha. Hope this helps.
Love this deck.
WOW... These blasted Progenitus decks man...
Excellent deck. Relatively inexpensive (with the exception of the obvious), but I'm afraid of encountering Mind Rot whenever I play Null Profusion.
