Deck Description

I have been fortunate enough to pull a few Tarmogoyf out of MM15 and been able to trade for a couple of Liliana of the Veil so I decided to try to build a Modern Junk/Abzan using a couple of beaters with big butts in Tas and Rhinos plus some bad ass two drops.

The deck runs the normal discard package and runs a pretty standard removal suite. It used to have another Thoughtseize in the board for pure efficiency in a meta saturated with Rhino's, Titans, Wurmcoils and Tas-like delve critters but with Merfolk and Zoo running wild I had to pull it for another sweeper:

The SB packs the obligatory Damnation and some Explosives for when you need to sweep a bunch of Zoo, fish and Affinity-like critters. Persecution is great in the mirror and also gives Elves and Decepticons fits. Dromoka's Command has muscled in on what used to be flex slots by simply being the most flexible card available that also removes Blood Moon.

I keep flipping back and forth with Sorin but he simply ups the token value in any general matchup too much to be ignored and he outraces the mirror and Jund on top of stomping burn.
Same can be said for the 4th Souls over anything but as it is how most grindy game 1's are won I'm trying out Bitterblossom in the place of the 4th Souls.

The new addition I've been testing is Hangarback Walker. Swapping it with Voice depending on what kind of gameplan you are employing, (beatdown or control), has shown excellent results in early testing as it has great synergy with what is already in the deck but for now I'm riding the Voice's ability to hose anything Blue and Red.

As I travel extensively and never know what meta I will be playing in one week to the next I set up the SB to casts a wide net to try and cover as many popular decks as is feasible but with a slant towards the more aggressive archetypes.

The number of the different cards in the deck are in constant flux as more testing reveals new needs. I'm sure I have also forgotten a few possible inclusions to the "master plan" so if you see anything that would work in here then please let me know.

How to Play

Plays as a control deck with a significant early lean towards the more disruptive side but it can also hit hard early with its 2 drops. Lingering Souls is a major player in here with it's interactions with Lili and Sorin's +1 ability while also pumping the Voice Elemental.

Included a couple of man lands that dodge sorcery speed removal and has diverse applications against different archetypes. GQ to eat opposing manlands and Urza lands. Vault complicates the combat step to the point that I rarely have to activate it to achieve my goal for the turn and it is sick with Dromoka's Command in those steardown, drag out mirror and Jund topdeck wars.

Use fetch lands to fix your mana on the first few turns, don't fear the early damage to yourself, that is why there is lifegain in here.
Hit opponent early with discard and then drop threats and swing when you have made their hand limp. Use that graveyard supply to keep 'goyf big or to plop down an early Tas and use his ability on opponents turn for additional draw/yard fodder.

The removal is flexible enough to clear the way for an early charge. I keep flopping between 1 Dismember and/or 2 Pulses after SB as either one is so good against certain decks that the other is not, and the inclusion of the Command is not making those choices any easier! That might be a meta call I have to make on the spot...?

The SB is trying to hit a little of everything but is geared towards my worst matchups like Affinity, Burn and Tron but is always under major construction and input is appreciated.
