Oh that Stuffy Doll. Quite nostalgic. I'm NOT a black player whatsoever, but I dig the deck. Very effective and I particularly like the approach; very original. Even if an idea has been thought up and used before by someone else, it's original to a degree if you came up with that idea on your own. Using "lesser" spells that don't target the player directly... that's pretty neat. Good job!

The main reason is because I wanted to keep the average CMC for the deck as low as possible. I also try to put multiples of cards that do certain things so that the probability/reliability of the deck operating as it's made to do meets or exceeds. Sharding Sphinx was an exception in that it practically copies your thopters, whereas the Assembly simply puts out 6 at one time and then just sits pretty. It's a good card, don't get me wrong, but I saw it as somewhere between inefficient and obsolete to the other candidates in the mainboard. I'm all ears to other/further suggestions though. I learn as much as I can in as many ways as I can, and although most simple-themed decks I build are just a "what would my __ deck look like if I made one...", they have to be fun enough to want to be built in the first place. I'm all ears. :)

Thanks, y'all! Glad you appreciate it. I should probably update it in the near future.

That'd be awesome, and a first! Never made it front page.

You see the details; nice! Yeah, I didn't see it as effective after thinking about it and comparing. Still a runner-up though, so I just threw it in the sideboard. Thanks again for the compliment! I'll have to check your decks out.

I looked at nearly every zone transfer and found the cheapest or most versitile cards for each situation. The problem is having too many cards in the deck but not enough for each type of transfer for my taste. Figured getting them out of the library would be step 1 and since there's a LOT of counterspells that easily exile from hand. In fact, most options seem to be from the hand, and if something like the Cloyster is added, it can be easily guarded. So, after I get back to finishing this deck, it'll probably be easier to eliminate based on the idea of which cycle of zone transfer leaves most options and leaves me less vulnerable. Thanks for the comments and tips! I probably do need more lands in there.

That is a great suggestion, but normally I don't use it due to how broken it is and because it looks ancient (I only use cards that at least LOOK modern). If only they'd reprint it. Thanks for the suggestion though!

There's not much of a difference between student and teacher. Sure, the experienced in certain formats can tell you what is to be expected by typical opponents. Seasoned players can give you tips on synergy and general usefulness of certain mechanics. Probability/ratio is a great thing to pick up on since that determines the reliability and consistency of its use. But style is unique to the individual. Sure, you might like the same things as another person and in trying to max its use find someone else made a deck almost identical, but it's just a fact that most if not everything has been done before at some point. I find some of my decks are like others,' but I make them from scratch, no emulating, and still try to put a style twist to them. I like them and that's what matters. Learn function, cultivate style.

Same, but you know when you get that urge/inspiration to start building a deck and don't feel like searching for paper or typing all those card names? Yeah, that's when I hop on here and go to town. And if I don't finish the deck right away, BAM, here it is, and I go right back to finishing it. Sometimes you have one end in mind for a deck and find yourself torn between 2 different means that won't allow for a well-functioning hybrid of the 2 methods. That is also when I use the Vault. I don't have much time or money to play all the time, but I can always plot new "machines" for the next time I do get to play. A lot of mine use the same cards, so I recycle the expensive ones between decks as I use them.

I definitely believe being selfless and working with others is the better path throughout life, but I want those out there who simply want to make decks and put them on here as a "stash" to not feel guilty of being "selfish" in doing so. I didn't use this site for the purpose of being social nor in need for advice or commentary. It's nice and is constructive for sure, but not everyone needs to go out of their way to keep the likes and comments going for the site. The site will thrive regardless of the lack of change on the main page or anywhere else for that matter. But if you ARE one who wants comments or social interaction, don't become stagnant and think only of your own decks; go out there and do unto others as you wish to have done to yourself. Empathy will save the world if given the chance throughout.

I think the Sample Hand tool is unrealistic/off a bit, but I could be the one who is unrealistic. Or maybe just fortunate. I use probability and ratio when I build decks and my numbers have hardly failed me, but that simulator is always giving me bad results. To each their own.

I agree in both your observations and uses. I've noticed the site having the same decks on the main page for a while now. I make homebrews in mostly-modern format just for fun and put them on here so I can access them from wherever. It's just an added bonus if friends or strangers check them out or comment on them. Never really complained that they don't get much notice, but it would be nice if those who make kooky, out-of-the-box, or stylish decks would make main page every now and again. Sometimes they do, but I see a lot of standard and budget decks and not much of anything else.

So I'm not saying we need forum links or any other social additions, but at least a means to keep the flow of main page decks from curdling. Feelin' me?

I like it. Doesn't have too much to fend off killspells or counterspells, but those combos are pretty nasty. Very nice.
