Deck Description

I'm currently making a life drain themed commander deck. However I am currently looking for tips on what to add and what to ditch. Did I miss some great life leech cards? I'm looking for durable cards, not 1-time limited uses like Sorin's Thirst.

Thx for the feedback!

grislebrand would have been the best, sadly he is forever banned from commander.

I have come across felidar sovereing, test of endurance and Serra ascendant and I like them a lot. However in the player pool where I am, people are gonna QQ too much if I use them so they were left out for that reason.

I will certainly give a thought for the other cards

EDIT : wall of hope is a bit too small for my taste same for mantra.
EDIT 2 : While I love baneslayer angel and goldmane, it is way out of my budget.

duelcommander.com is not the french ban list, it is the official 1v1 banned list. you HAVE to play by that list, if you are playing competetive 1v1 EDH. that being said, most of us dont play competetive, but the wizards banlist is for multiplayer, that one is for 1v1, should you want to follow them. Notice the starting life difference, as well.

I made a Obzedat EDH similar to yours, in fact. Take a look.

Although you said Goldmane is out of your budget, I'd still strongly consider him or Sorin, Lord of Innistrad. Also, although you said your pool would QQ over Felidar and Test of Endurance, they're VERY strong win conditions for a deck like yours. I'd highly reconsider.

Aside from that I would recommend....
Chalice of Life (must have)
Essence Harvest (must have)
Souls of the Faultless (must have)
Ajani's Pridemate (must have)
Death Grasp
Syphon Life
Loxodon Warhammer
Final Punishment
Castigate
Hissing Miasma
Righteous Cause
Wall of Reverence
And... if you have them/are willing to get them
Sword of Light and Shadow and Skullclamp

Hope that this helped!!!! :)

Thanks for the ideas, it is really appreciated.

Chalice of Life (must have) - I wasn't convinced whenever I played it, never seemed to do any good. Despite gaining a lot of life, I always end up being focused and thus never getting that much higher than my max. As a sidenote, I am annoyed by flip cards.
Essence Harvest (must have) - I'd rather have a murder than that. True it gives back much health but I don't have a lot of strong creatures so it's pointless.
Souls of the Faultless (must have) - Good point, it's in.
Ajani's Pridemate (must have) - My oponents barely get a primordial hydra in their decks because it gets destroyed so easily, I'll not settle for the retarded stepchild.
Death Grasp - I'll think about it. Not bad at all
Syphon Life - I never have too many lands...
Loxodon Warhammer - A bit costly but I'll think about it.
Final Punishment - not bad but I don't have a reliable way to deal enough damage that it will be worth it (since it's a sorcery)
Castigate - Good idea. I'll try to find it a spot
Hissing Miasma - I like it. I'm always searching for some more defense.
Righteous Cause - Hum, I'll see if there is a spot somewhere I can wedge it in.
Wall of Reverence - Definitly a good card but my creatures are too small to be worth the 5$

Sword of Light and Shadow - Too costly and I'd rather have a Sword or War and Peace.
Skullclamp - I don't have any creature to fodder to it.

You're very welcome.
As for a response to your responses...
Chalice of Life - This isn't in here so much for gaining life as it is dealing damage. Wait till you're at 50, drop it, and you have a consistent way to deal 5 per turn.
Essence Harvest - Of your 21 creatures (including commander) 7 of them are greater than or equal to 5 pwr. Do as you please, but this is one of the most underrated cards, especially if you're running Sanguine Bond, Exquisite Blood, and V Guildmage.
Ajani's Pridemate - Combo this guy with Essence Harvest, Cradle of Vitality, and Wall of Reverence, and you win. I recognize the concerns on being fragile though.
Syphon Life - Late game. Can be very helpful and very reuseable.
Wall of Reverence - Again, you have enough things with power greater than 5 for this to be awesome especially if you pair it with Pridemate or Cradle of Vitality or even Serra Avatar. That'd be insane.
Sword of Light and Shadow -Totally understand. I like it for it's protection coverage and pulling stuff outta my graveyard.
Skullclamp - You don't need to fodder anything to it. Use this as an offensive card that, should your opponents block it and kill it, you get cards. Never throw stuff away with the clamp, but always have it there for card advantage. HUGE help!

And here is the responses to the responses to my repsonses.
Chalice of Life - What I meant is my deck is usually getting focused. If I manage to stay at 40, I'm really happy. Gaining that necessary extra life has been possible in 2 out of the 10 games I played so far, none of which I had the Chalice available. This is why I removed it. Should the meta in my circle change, then I might concider putting it back.
Essence Harvest - In my current circle, the average number of boardwipe is 2.5 per player per game. Creatures don't tend to last long enough. However for Serra's Sake, I'll see if I can nudge something out.
Wall - Same as Essence.
Skullclamp - Hum, I guess you do have a point however since my deck is rarely on the offensive (or even defensive really) with creatures, I'll still leave it out. I don't usually block attacks since my creatures are more valuable than the damage done.
